A fairly common recommendation for reducing police misconduct is to increase use of body cameras for law enforcement. By recording police-citizen encounters, police supervisors, judges, reporters, and others can get objective evidence of what happened instead of self-serving hearsay.
Do police body cameras improve police behavior?
The answer is obviously. Police will behave more standard to provide service to citizens.The camera can record all the behavior both police and normal citizens. It can remind everyone of what they can do or what they shouldn’t do. It might be tempting to correlate the reduction in use-of-force incidents and complaints against the police with the introduction of body cameras. And it is also a protection for police or traffic police.
For now how many countries are using body worn camera?
As far as we know, there are about one-third of the 18,000 police departments in the United States using body cameras. And also body cameras are widely using in China.
Where can we put the body video camera on?
The body cameras can be worn on your chest, or lapel, capturing what`s happening from the officers point of view. But that video is always subject to interpretation.
According to the experts saying, there are a handful of studies that show two important things: One, when officers wear cameras, citizen complaints against officers decrease substantially, and two, officers' use of force also goes down.
