Synectics Champions Smart Transport Networks
Source: Synectics
With increasingly complex threats facing cities, there is little doubt that smart transport networks are the future. Offering significant benefits to passengers, operators and local authorities alike, they enable key urban services to become more efficient, effective, safer and connected.

Cities from London to Singapore are already building them. Madrid is leading the way with a central control room that receives and integrates data from 40 urban control rooms covering all public and private transport operators: that’s over 100 bus routes, 300 railway lines and 200,000 cameras.

So, how do transport operators transition their current infrastructure to achieve smart transport network ambitions? IP, integration and wider adoption of open architecture, coupled with closer collaboration between partners and local authorities are crucial steps. It’s a complex challenge, but one global surveillance company Synectics – attending Coach and Bus UK (NEC, Birmingham, 4-5 October) – believes today’s technology can help overcome.

On stand N19, Synectics will be showcasing solutions deployed within the world’s busiest transport hubs by multiple operators. Visitors will witness live demonstrations of Synectics’ Synergy 3 command and control platform, which enables operators to adopt the ‘smart’ approach by providing a mechanism to integrate and utilise data from multiple systems, while automating key management processes.

Jeff Fail, Managing Director, Synectics Mobile Division, said: “Smart transport networks are better for passengers and for our urban infrastructure as a whole. Equally important, implementing technologies and approaches linked to achieving smarter networks is also highly beneficial to operators.

“For example, adopting an open architecture, integrated surveillance solution to make vital system connections, enables operators to gather and utilise real time data from all parts of their network, driving cost and operational efficiencies as well as improved customer service.”

Iain Stringer, Sales and Marketing Director at Synectics, added: “Coach and Bus UK is an important platform for the global bus and coach market, which brings together a wide range of industry experts. We’re looking forward to meeting with customers and industry experts to share our knowledge and expertise.

“Synectics has 30 years of experience in on-vehicle transport, infrastructure and public space protection, and is capable of delivering end-to-end surveillance and security solutions that connect the entire transport landscape ? improving safety, enhancing passenger experience and supporting network-wide security.”

Synectics’ on-vehicle and infrastructure solutions protect over 3 billion passenger journeys worldwide each year, giving us a frontline view of changing industry requirements and expectations.
