‘Integration, IP and innovation’ dominate Middle East surveillance trends

Integration, IP networks and camera innovation are the three dominant trends affecting oil and gas surveillance in the Middle East. Those attending ADIPEC 2014 will be able to discover how and why from global surveillance solutions business Synectics (Hall 14, Stand 102).
Middle East energy production is set to expand by 37% over the next 20 years. By 2035 the region’s share of global oil supply will reach 34%. With site expansions and new project developments becoming ever more complex and important to the region’s economy, asset protection is of vital importance. This has led to significant trends emerging in the surveillance market.
Graham Ashley, Synectics Business Development Manager (Middle East), said: “The Middle East oil and gas market is growing, and a growing market has changing needs. Our Dubai hub puts us at the heart of these changes and gives us ‘on-the-ground’ insight into what new projects are demanding from their surveillance systems.”
Major projects in the region to benefit from Synectics’ surveillance solutions include Shell Pearl GTL Project, IRP Phase II, BAB and ASAB, Barzan, Shah Gas, and Karan.
“Integration with more third-party systems (emergency, security and operational) is a key requirement,” said Graham. “Projects are increasingly moving away from disparate, multi-system management to surveillance command and control solutions that both unify and ‘make sense’ of data from multiple system sources for greater levels of situational awareness.
“This trend goes hand-in-hand with heightened interest in IP networked surveillance, which opens up greater opportunity for third party integration as well as other benefits such as centralised surveillance of remote sites, and reduced impact on site infrastructure. We’ll be exploring these significant developments in more detail with delegates attending ADIPEC.”
Demand for IP networked surveillance is also linked with increased focus on camera capabilities, in particular High Definition (HD) options.
Graham continued: “Working closely with our customers, we identified a growing need in the region for HD camera stations with in-built IP capabilities, which can transmit video signals directly to an IP surveillance command and control system. It’s why we’ve developed and launched enhancements to our C3000 range.
“The theme of this year’s ADIPEC is ‘challenges and opportunities for the next 30 years’. One of the biggest opportunities for the Middle East oil and gas market is undoubtedly working with the surveillance industry to develop solutions that meet changing needs and take advantage of new technological advancements.”
In addition to discussing key surveillance trends with visitors to ADIPEC, Synectics will also be conducting live demonstrations of its flagship surveillance solutions for the sector, including its evolved command and control platform, Synergy 3, and C-range of COEX PTZ camera stations including the C3000 high temperature model with HD/integrated IP, and the C2000 TriMode for day, night and thermal imaging.
