Synectics Explores Surveillance Trends in Transport with Singapore’s Society of Engineers
Source: Synectics
Global surveillance solutions expert Synectics has delivered a prestigious seminar to Singapore’s Society of Operations Engineers (SOE) on key trends in transport surveillance technology – focusing on converged ‘vehicle-to-ground’ solutions.

The seminar, jointly sponsored by Synectics and Tower Transit Singapore, was hosted by the British High Commission and attended by representatives from a wide variety of transport engineering disciplines.

During the seminar, Iain Stringer and Neil Brockbank from Synectics focused on tailored on-vehicle surveillance solutions and addressed the opportunities for convergence across transportation networks. Subjects covered included identifying unattended baggage, managing passenger flow, protecting perimeters, facial recognition, and tracking capabilities.

Ian Stringer, Sales and Marketing Director said: “Within the SE Asia region, and indeed globally, there is a growing trend for systems convergence – particularly in those markets with significant transport hubs and networks. Finding ways to unify on-vehicle solutions with transport hub and back-office fleet management systems are becoming more and more crucial.

“Being able to explore this concept and discuss the software and hardware capabilities now available to operators, with such an engaged and passionate audience, was a real honor.”

Mark Hegarty, SOE Singapore Chairman and Head of Engineering for Tower Transit Singapore Pte Ltd, who organized the event, commented: “There is a tremendous enthusiasm for modern engineering in Singapore. The SOE is a recognized institution and respected throughout the region; we want to connect all those interested in sharing their knowledge and experiences.”

With a regional SE Asia hub based in Singapore, Synectics has delivered projects for and established long-term partnerships with, significant transport operators in the region, including Go-Ahead Singapore, Tower Transit Singapore, and Hong Kong Citybus.

The company has successfully delivered a number of high-profile transport and infrastructure projects in the region, including the provision of integrated surveillance and security solutions for a leading SE Asia airline and Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the busiest airport in the southern hemisphere.

This comprehensive understanding of the transport market gives Synectics unique ‘front line’ insight into how ongoing developments with surveillance and security systems can support organizations seeking to take advantage of technology advancements
