Tailored Technology and Training: Synectics Stresses Importance of User Experience at World Game Protection
Source: Synectics
An effective gaming surveillance solution is never just about technology – it is about empowering users to work smarter, not harder; giving them the uniquely relevant and specific information they need to take appropriate action under critical conditions.

Conference attendees visiting Synectics (booth M7) at this years’ World Game Protection will find out why “customizing the user experience” is such a vital advancement for the casino industry. This user-focused ethos is ingrained in Synergy 3 through GUI layouts, workflows, reports and training programs.

It is a big reason why Synergy 3, Synectics’ open architecture, command and control platform - that allows video, third party alarms and data to be managed from a single interface - is one of the gaming industry’s fastest-growing surveillance solutions.

“The technical capabilities of Synergy 3 have proven extremely popular”, said Adam Heisler, Synectics’ Sales Director for International Gaming. “Having the ability to combine data events from multiple alarm, transactional and analytical systems to achieve heightened levels of situational awareness is fast becoming an operational necessity.

“What’s resonated most with customers, though, is the extent to which information can be tailored for individual users or departments, and how this customization directly improves management control, process compliance and operator efficiency.”

Synergy 3 features, including its fully customizable GUI, incident collaboration tools, enhanced workflows, and an interactive mapping engine with Geospatial Information System (GIS) technology, have been particularly well received.

Adam continued: “Virtually everything in the user interface can be tailored so that each user is presented with the right data, in the right way, at the right time and then automatically led through response protocols appropriate for that person and those conditions. What data is displayed where, Boolean search criteria, interactive alerts, and personal layout settings are all completely customizable. Synergy 3 gives surveillance departments simple tools to create, enforce and monitor their own rulebook.”

The understanding that every user works differently and has a unique set of skills and responsibilities, has also inspired Synectics to customize and, thereby, optimize operator training.

Adam explained: “Our training team – led by a former gaming surveillance and regulatory manager - spends several days on-site working with operators from each shift to understand what they need to perform their jobs. With a clear understanding of that specific environment and operator team, we then develop an individualized curriculum and set of training exercises that focus on the most pertinent, high value features for that property.

“The lack of flexibility found in “one-size-fits-all” surveillance systems often leaves an unintended gap between what “could” and what “must” happen when there’s a serious threat that demands decisive action. By tailoring both the technology and training program to unique user requirements, this gap is removed which enables surveillance operators to do their jobs better than ever before.

“We’ve received great feedback on Synergy 3 from customers like Penn Gaming, Resorts World New York and Presque Isle Downs & Casino that have noted improved operator consistency and productivity in terms of incident reviews, response and reporting.”

In addition to learning more about Synergy 3’s capabilities and training, visitors to World Game Protection will also find out more about Synectics’ powerful range of high quality, low cost HD IP cameras, network-based encoders, storage solutions and alarm management systems.

Synectics’ advanced security, surveillance and process management technology monitors and records more than 100,000 channels in over 100 gaming establishments worldwide.
