HID Global Expands its Portfolio of Converged Logical and Physical Access Solutions with Latest Addition to Its Line of Crescendo Smart Cards

Delivers Out-of-the-Box, Standards-Compliant, Multi-Factor Authentication Smart Cards for Logical Access Control While Also Supporting a Broad Range of Physical Access Requirements

IRVINE, Calif., August 23, 2012 – HID Global, trusted leader in solutions for the delivery of secure identity, today announced its new Crescendo? C1150 smart card suite of credentials that provide a standards-based solution across a broad range of converged logical and physical access applications.
The C1150 can be used for two-factor authentication for PC login and for accessing virtual private networks (VPNs), creating public/private key infrastructure (PKI)-based digital signatures, generating one-time passwords (OTPs), and enhancing data protection for data-at-rest as well as for secure data transmission. The solution also supports a broad range of physical access requirements.

The Crescendo C1150 smart cards work in stand-alone mode without card management system involvement for out-of-the-box deployment, and they are available in quantities as small as 25. The smart cards come pre-loaded with a default configuration that has been tested across a range of logical access applications including Microsoft products as well as HID’s 4TRESS? AAA authentication server, naviGO? card lifecycle management software, and ActivClient? security client software. The cards provide broad support for Microsoft’s logical access products through interoperability with the Microsoft-approved smart card Minidriver specification, as well as third-party applications.

“Combining logical and physical access on one credential improves user convenience while increasing security and reducing deployment and operational costs,” said Helmut Dansachmueller, senior director of product marketing with HID Global. “Our new Crescendo C1150 offering leverages state-of-the-art smart card chip and RFID technologies to deliver these benefits in a single solution. This latest addition to the Crescendo smart card family reinforces our Genuine HID value proposition to continually support our customers with a growing range of innovative products that are part of the industry’s broadest line of trusted, full interoperable secure identity solutions.”

For physical access, the Crescendo C1150 card’s integrated single- or multi-technology RFID interface addresses the majority of today’s deployments. The cards also are ideal for use in RFID applications, and simultaneously support both high-frequency (iCLASS?, MIFARE?, and DESFire?) and low-frequency technologies. For increased identity data protection, the cards support HID Global’s iCLASS SE platform based on its Secure Identity Object (SIO?) data model.

Other features of the Crescendo C1150 card family include:
? Common Criteria EAL5+ with embedded security countermeasures for protection against attacks.
? Physical dimensions according to ISO/IEC 7810 (ID-1 format)
? High-durability card body that is tested in accordance with ISO/IEC 10373 and ANSI 322 specifications.
? Can be produced using all direct image or thermal transfer printers, or by using HID Global’s Secure Identity Services which enable organizations to outsource their large-volume badging and reissuance projects with a broad range of highly flexible card customization options.
