RADWIN, a global provider of advanced wireless broadband solutions, announced that it received a follow-on order by the City of David, a historic landmark in Jerusalem, Israel. RADWIN's systems are used by the City of David since 2006 for video surveillance transmission from 65 cameras. In Phase II of the project, RADWIN will be used to connect an additional 85 cameras. The Mer Group, an Israeli-based turnkey solutions provider, is in charge of Phase II project definition, design and deployment. The 4ci company served as a security consultant for the project.

The City of David historic landmark draws tens of thousands of visitors yearly. To ensure visitor safety, the City of David installed more than 150 cameras in the compound and is using RADWIN's equipment to carry video back to its control center.

Dvir Kahana from the City of David Foundation stated: "We chose RADWIN's systems because they provide high-quality video transmission 24x7. Each link delivers 18 Mbps capacity, enabling us to run multiple critical communications applications simultaneously, including surveillance of all entryways and the opening and closing of all gates to the compound, intercom communications via VoIP, and sending of pan-tilt-zoom command signals to the cameras. Thanks to the Mer Group and RADWIN, we have complete visibility and control over the City of David and can detect and respond to events on the spot."

Igal Matzafi, Security Expert from 4ci for the project, commented: "RADWIN's systems have been working since 2006. So when it came time to expand video surveillance coverage to include additional excavation sites RADWIN was the obvious choice. The systems provide high bandwidth and low latency, which assures high-resolution video transmission in real time. This makes them ideal for mission-critical applications."
