The relevant equipment and the safety of transaction process has always been an important work of the security department of banks. Meanwhile, since ATM is widely used in the finance, some problems came to the surface gradually. These problems had severely restricted the ATM to develop towards higher requirements and deeper level. At the same time, more and more account disputes and ATM financial crimes are generated. Therefore, to protect the safe using of ATM, decrease the disputes between banks and customers and protect customers and banks’ benefits and prevent all kinds of crimes on ATM are very urgent problems.
The defects of ATM surveillance system have arisen, and people should pay attention to them. These are also some weakness that surveillance industry needs to improve. The following are some defects of ATM, and you can draw lessons from this:
1． The area that the monitoring covers is not overall. The front image can only direct at the single criminal without covering other criminal associates. Meanwhile, it lacks of monitoring of access control button area and surrounding environment.
Solution: to adopt five-way surveillance to enhance the monitoring of access control and image area.
2. When encountering some emergency, the depositor would always feel helpless and do not know how to do with it.
Solution: To add a concealed button of emergency on ATM board so that the customer could press this button to ask for help at any time.
3. The monitoring always collect evidence afterwards which means that it can not find and deal with the problems in time.
Solution: to install SMS alarm module. In this way, it can deal with the emergencies immediately after the warning situations happen to avoid more severe losses.
4. The monitor can not work when the power has been broken.
Solution: to install host state monitor with dry-cell batteries.
5. The overlay card number recording would reveal the card information of the clients and thus lead to the crimes committed by the insiders.
Solution: to use the card catcher with a mask bit to avoid the security problems caused by the revealing of the recordings.
6. The monitoring may cause numerous invalid recordings which would prevent the video recorder from recording the effective recordings.

7. The monitor has no effective indicator type which would cause the clients being bilked in the self-service area. And this would cause the clients’ feeling of discontent to the equipment and service of the banks.

8. The screen is not large enough in the daily maintenance and it can not display clearly.
Solution: To use the 8-inch or lager digital LCD screen.
9. It is not convenient to manage the multi-path images. It can not display the peripheral images at the same time when reading the recording at different situations.
Solution: The multiple overlaying merge technology can merge the relevant multi-path images into a whole image while recording. Therefore, it can be easy to copy, give evidence and analyze.
10. This surveillance has a poor effect on recording at night.
