Physical security devices cannot come without AI in this day and age—it’s what the market requires. The opportunities, from facial recognition to behavior-based threat detection, allow for new, intuitive workflows for security professionals that are just too good to be overlooked.
Physical security devices cannot come without AI in this day and age—it’s what the market requires. The opportunities, from facial recognition to behavior-based threat detection, allow for new, intuitive workflows for security professionals that are just too good to be overlooked.
AI can also be a buzzword used for technology “somewhere” inside the hardware of manufacturers that they buy from third-part developers. Some of them might only have limited knowledge about the core of their “own” AI.
Closely vetted partners
AVTECH is confident about its AI, not just in terms of what it can do. An early leader in CCTV hardware, AVTECH has in the past few years increasingly focused on recorders and VMS. It now offers all the AI-powered functions that are in high-demand in the sector.
Its AI is developed partly in-house and partly in cooperation with public universities in Taiwan that have taken the lead in AI research, said Alejandro Portillo, the Product Division Sales Manager at the Taipei-based company.
A close-relationship with other AI vanguards doesn’t just ensure AVTECH can introduce the latest AI-powered possibilities quickly, but it also gives its customers the knowledge that their data are in good hands.
“It’s a big advantage especially in overseas markets like the US,” Portillo said. “The same goes for India, where the government lately introduced new regulations banning Chinese tech from security devices—including all Chinese-made AI.”
“It remains to be seen how they implement it,” said Portillo. “But it’s definitely a chance for us.”
100% in-house
Other manufacturers, such as VIVOTEK, develop their AI fully in-house, which ensures the New Taipei City-based company has full control over what happens at the core of its Vortex cloud AI platform, as well as all hardware branded VIVOTEK.
More coverage about the latest AI at Secutech, and where it comes from in case open security infrastructures include edge AI on third-party devices, will be coming soon.
