As one of the first enterprises to enter the Middle East market, Meian has witnessed the development and changes of the Middle East security industry.
As the world’s biggest business event of security, safety and fire protection, Intersec was successfully held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from January 14th to 16th, 2025. The 26th edition of Intersec, which lasted for three days, was the largest in its history, attracting 1,200 exhibitors from 61 countries and over 52,000 visitors from more than 140 countries, making it the largest one in its history.
At this year's Intersec, over 300 Chinese enterprises showcased a diverse array of products and technologies in the fields of security, fire protection, and safety. The range of exhibits covered a wide range of areas, including AI cameras, solar-powered cameras, infrared thermal imaging devices, drones, smart access control systems, anti-theft alarms, smart door locks, as well as fire protection, emergency response, and safety products.
During the show, a&s conducted special visits to some representative enterprises and conducted interviews to further understand the exhibition highlights and market plans of Chinese enterprises at Intersec, and to clarify the hot trends in the Middle East security market this year, providing information references for enterprises to enter the Middle East market.
This time, a&s invited Shenzhen Meian Technology. As one of the first enterprises to enter the Middle East market, Meian has witnessed the development and changes of the Middle East security industry. How should an enterprise formulate a correct market strategy and grasp market trends when entering a new market? Let's follow Meian's perspective and review its development path in the Middle East.
Q: a&s
A: Shenzhen Meian Technology
Q: When did Meian start entering the Middle East market? How did it take root and grow in the Middle East market?
A: Meian started entering the Middle East market in 2006. The market has changed a lot in these two decades. Currently, the Middle East security market pursues cost-effectiveness. Product prices are getting lower and lower, while the requirements for product functions are getting higher and higher. Correspondingly, the requirements for factories and enterprises are also higher. At present, the product market is basically polarized. On the one hand, in the consumer market, low prices are highly valued. There is intense price competition, and the main sales channel is e-commerce platforms. On the other hand, in the project-level market, high-performance products are sought after, where there are demands for technological upgrades, including the integration of artificial intelligence and the update and iteration of face-recognition-related technologies. This part of the market has an increasing demand for artificial intelligence, which profoundly affects the traditional security market. Meian is involved in both the consumer market and the project market. But strictly speaking, the project-level market accounts for a larger proportion.
In such a polarized market environment, to thrive in a market, the most important thing is to find one's own development path. Meian has always been on the path of combining video and alarm. The traditional infrared-microwave detection method is prone to false alarms, wasting human and material resources. Meian activates the camera for re-inspection after an alarm is triggered to further confirm the occurrence of the event, which greatly saves resources.
Q: What products did Meian launch at this exhibition?
A: At Intersec 2025, we launched products with a higher degree of integration. Traditional video-alarm products separated the alarm and video into two systems, but we integrated them into the same system, bringing great convenience to customers. For example, equipment wiring becomes more convenient. One network cable can connect the video, power supply, and all sensors, solving the complex problem of traditional wiring aggregation and saving costs as well. This is specifically reflected in our smart home product series, which is the most-watched product category by the audience this year.

Having been deeply involved in the Middle East security market for over twenty years, Meian has rich experience in product deployment. However, this year, artificial intelligence has emerged as a hot topic. Integrating artificial intelligence into products and devices can effectively solve the problem of false alarms and integrate various algorithms to improve product performance. For example, it can handle issues such as item omission, fire alarm, and parking lot management. One camera can solve all these problems, building a complete system at a low cost, and greatly reducing subsequent maintenance and operation costs.
Q: Whether in the domestic or foreign security markets, there is intense competition in terms of price, hardware configuration, service, and customization. How does Meian face such a market competition pattern?
A: In the face of this fierce competitive environment, what Meian values most is "user customization". We have more than 5,000 different product customization models, customizing different products and solutions for different customers. We don't sell "standard products". Personalized customization can effectively avoid vicious market competition and price wars. Meian can be regarded as one of the trailblazers in the Middle East market when it comes to providing customized services.
To support large-scale customized services, we divide according to product categories. In the sensor field, we have been focusing on sensor development and customization for twenty years. Different R & D personnel are responsible for the development of hardware such as control hosts and cameras, as well as software such as APPs and platforms. With such a division of labor, the experience and technical level of each part can be well-improved. In specific projects, we can quickly complete the design of software and hardware according to customer requirements. For aspects that are relatively unclear, such as product appearance, we will give some suggestions according to customer requirements. Overall, the division of labor is very clear, and we can achieve basically self-sufficiency in all aspects of the industrial chain, supporting large-scale customization and customers' personalized needs.
Q: Where does Meian's competitiveness come from?
A: Fundamentally, our competitiveness stems from the “diverse, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective” characteristics of our products. We offer a wide variety of products, rapid delivery, superior product quality, and low post-stage operation and maintenance costs. On this basis, we meet users' personalized needs and produce only products that “customers need”. This requires strong R & D capabilities of the enterprise. Presumably, there are no products exactly the same as Meian's in the market. This is our strength. By adopting flexible market strategies to respond to various changes, we can truly maintain the company's consistent style and thrive in different markets.
