Secutech 2024: Enabling AI-powered security with a focus on sustainability
The 25th Secutech International Security Exhibition and Conference will take place from April 24 to 26, 2024, at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1.
The 25th Secutech International Security Exhibition and Conference will take place from April 24 to 26, 2024, at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1. This year's event, themed "Intelligent Security Automation and Smart Operation Management," will gather over 300 global technology companies showcasing cutting-edge systems and equipment that integrate AI (image recognition), sensing/detection, 5G, and IoT technologies for smart security, smart fire protection and disaster prevention, smart factories, and industrial safety protection. The exhibition will delve into 10 application domains and six conference themes, exploring comprehensive security technology applications and new trends in corporate sustainable development for urban safety and disaster management, low-carbon next-generation buildings, industrial safety, energy storage system safety, smart rail transportation, and logistics warehousing, providing the most focused platform in Asia for security and smart technology applications.

AI empowering new security applications

According to a report by ResearchAndMarkets.com on the global security market, the annual growth rate is expected to be around 8.3% from 2023 to 2028, driven primarily by AI, cloud, and IoT technologies. Multiple industry reports indicate that AI will make security systems smarter and more automated, significantly improving system performance and reducing manual workload through automatic detection of abnormal objects and behaviors, prescreening high-risk subjects, predicting security threats through AI and big data analysis, and optimizing security resource deployment. AI is expected to make security systems more adaptive and proactive, transitioning from passive recording devices to active decision-making systems, further driving system adoption and market growth.

To address this trend, Secutech's "Smart Security Trends and Applications Seminar Series" will continue to explore the latest AI and 5G technologies, solutions, and engineering techniques needed for new technologies in 2024.

Intelligent autonomous fire protection and disaster prevention

Last September, an explosion-triggered fire that lasted 24 hours at the Minyang Factory in Pingtung, Taiwan claimed the lives of four firefighters and injured 98 others. The incident highlighted deficiencies in factory safety and firefighter safety. According to statistics from the Insurance Development Center, Taiwan's commercial fire insurance claims and claim ratios (claims paid/premium income) both reached 10-year highs in 2023. Countries worldwide are implementing stricter fire safety regulations and standards for buildings, industries, and public spaces. Policy drivers, technological advancements, infrastructure growth, and increased public safety awareness are key factors driving global investment in fire safety.

This year's fire protection and disaster prevention forum, themed "Smart Technologies for Comprehensive Disaster Reduction, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery for Corporate Sustainability," will feature the "Enterprise Safety Upgrade & Smart Disaster Prevention and Rescue Seminar" hosted by the National Fire Agency of the Ministry of the Interior. The forum will focus on five critical trends: safety management, disaster resilience, smart systems, technological rescue, and sustainable development. The Taipei Fire Equipment Engineer Association will host the "Fire Safety ESG and High Hazard Laboratory Fire Safety Functional Verification Seminar," highlighting the importance of fire safety in corporate ESG strategies and introducing fire safety functional verification for high-hazard laboratories. Additionally, the "Asia Disaster Prevention Summit" and the "Taiwan New Disaster Prevention and Rescue Technology Seminar" will actively promote professional exchanges in the fire protection and disaster relief fields, fostering industry consensus through these forums.

Industrial safety trend: Incorporating safety into ESG indicators

Any safety-related incident can have a significant impact on a company, necessitating the establishment of a comprehensive plant safety management system to ensure a safe and stable working environment. To assist and guide companies in improving occupational safety and health standards, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Ministry of Labor, referencing the Global Reporting Initiative's "GRI 403: Occupational Health and Safety" published in 2018, has formulated the "Workplace Sustainable Health and Safety SDGs Disclosure Practice Guideline" to assist Taiwanese companies in aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Consequently, the Chinese Industrial Safety and Health Association will host the "Enterprise ESG Sustainable Development and Implementation of Occupational Safety Seminar," inviting industry experts with extensive practical experience to explore industrial safety priorities related to ESG for Taiwanese companies.

Following major energy storage station fires in Korea, the United States, China, and Australia, international standards have been updated with new safety requirements. Reinsurance companies and SEMI will soon issue safety recommendations for energy storage stations. The "Energy Storage and UPS System Design and Operation Safety Seminar" will discuss international insurance, safety regulations and certifications, international standards, and project experiences to help stakeholders understand potential risks and safety requirements during the design and operation phases of energy storage stations, enabling the establishment and maintenance of safer facilities.

In certain manufacturing processes, many raw materials used are flammable substances. The "Explosion-Proof Electrical Design Practices and Hazardous Area Equipment Technology Seminar" will assist emerging technology companies in striking a balance between manufacturing process efficiency and hazard levels by addressing the use of appropriate explosion-proof electrical equipment in hazardous work environments.

Secutech supporting Taiwan's safety

Secutech 2024 is not only the only exhibition platform in Taiwan that assembles the most comprehensive "security" and "imaging" applications but also actively promotes the convergence of security control with 5G, AI, and IoT technologies for smart transportation and next-generation building applications. Related seminars include the "2024 Asia-Pacific Smart Rail Development Trend Seminar," "Key Technologies in Advanced Rail Electromechanical and Train Control Systems," "Smart Rail Power Supply Systems and Energy Management," and the "Net Zero Sustainable Building Seminar."

Secutech 2024 cordially invites participants from industry, government, academia, and research sectors to explore new horizons in security and smart technologies.
