Hanwha Techwin launches ‘Wisenet AI’ Cameras

Hanwha Techwin launches ‘Wisenet AI’ Cameras
Brings the power of AI-based object detection and AI-enhanced image quality to Hanwha Techwin’s most popular camera line
Brings the power of AI-based object detection and AI-enhanced image quality to Hanwha Techwin’s most popular camera line

Hanwha Techwin has launched its most advanced line-up of security cameras to date with its ‘Wisenet AI’, which is featured on the newly launched Wisenet P series and the soon-to-be-launched Wisenet X series. The global security solutions company’s new security cameras provide significant, advanced upgrades over the Wisenet X series non AI cameras, which was launched in late 2020.

Featuring Hanwha’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and deep-learning technologies, the new cameras offer industry-leading AI-based object detection false alarm reduction analytics, AI-enhanced image quality and edge-based business intelligence.

“Technology advancements are raising the surface points of threats but simultaneously giving us more sophisticated tools to detect them – whereby AI is able to do so with greater accuracy and context, especially when applying them in security cameras across various industries. Our new Wisenet AI Series cameras is a testament to how we continue to leverage our technical prowess in having AI tech which can improve our products’ efficiency and quality to provide our customers with the best surveillance solutions available today,” said James Hong, Head of APAC Sales at Hanwha Techwin.

Unparalleled object detection through AI

The new Wisenet AI series cameras include the P-AI camera from the Wisenet P series, which detects and classify people, vehicles, faces, license plates and more in real-time and in vivid, exceptional 4K resolution to greatly enhance the accuracy of video analytics. This is particularly beneficial in extracting evidence in a forensic investigation as operators can conduct in-depth searches with the ‘BestShot’ feature, which enables the identification of a person’s age, gender, glasses, mask, hat, bag, color of clothing and more.

The Wisenet AI is also featured in the upcoming Wisenet X series.

The new X series cameras utilize AI to detect and classify people, vehicles, faces, license plates and more in real-time. With a range of available resolutions from 2MP to 4K, the cameras’ deep-learning algorithms can reliably identify multiple distinct objects. Reduce false alarms due to wind-blown trees, shadows, or animals are eliminated. Analytics become a reliable second pair of eyes to operators helping them know where to look for important real-time events.

AI-based image enhancements

AI can also play an important role in image quality. WiseNRII noise reduction is a new enhancement which utilizes AI to identify object movement and reduce blur in noisy, low light environments. AI-based preferred shutter technology automatically adjusts the shutter speed based on classified objects in motion and the lighting conditions in a scene to reduce motion blur and deliver the clearest images.

AI-based image optimization with WiseStreamIII

By utilizing the results of AI-based object detection, WiseStream III technology adjusts the video encoder to focus maximum video quality on the detected objects in a scene while scaling back encoding on the rest of the scene.

Extreme WDR and WiseIR

Wisenet X AI’s Extreme WDR uses scene analysis technology to optimize differences such as tone and contrast during frame synthesis to minimize motion artifacts. In addition, local contrast enhancement technology, which emphasizes high frequency areas step by step, improves the detail and clarity of images.

WiseIR technology adjusts the output of the IR LEDs according to the cameras’ zoom magnification. In a wide field of view, it minimizes dark areas on the outside of the image using the IR LEDs uniformly. When the lens is focused more narrowly (telephoto), the IR LEDs are more concentrated to illuminate distant objects.

Business Intelligence

AI-based analytics aren’t just for security, they also bring a wealth of actionable data to operations, marketing and sales departments. With AI-based object detection, businesses can obtain highly accurate people counts, queue management data and heat maps showing detailed patterns of behavior. Wisenet X AI cameras can also detect and classify people at any angle without additional camera installation.

Next-level cybersecurity

Wisenet X AI cameras contain best-in-class cybersecurity that validates the boot process, securely stores key information, and pre-empts hacking risk with unauthorized access blocking. X Core series are to be certified by the globally accredited UL Cybersecurity Assurance Program (UL CAP) to ensure that they provide customers with industry-leading end-to-end cybersecurity.

Specifically for the X Plus series, the cameras are integrated with TPM 2.0 hardware which creates hard-to-predict ‘actual random numbers’ and provides enhanced security compared to software producing similar random numbers, while also doubling up to provide secure storage. The TPM hardware used for the X-Plus cameras is certified by the United States Federal Information Process Standards (FIPS).
