LILIN finds its own growth formula, regardless of the COVID-19
Accumulating around 40-year experience in the global security industry, LILIN continues to maintain steady growth this year in spite of the fact that the industry is facing a downturn because of COVID-19. Accumulating around 40-year experience in the global security industry, LILIN continues to maintain steady growth this year in spite of the fact that the industry is facing a downturn because of COVID-19. C.C. Hsu, President of LILIN shared his thoughts on how the company persists in its own core value throughout these years to find its own growth formula.

LILIN is a well-established company and its members are strongly glued together by family attachment. Just because of it, LILIN has the perseverance against all the difficulties and keep innovating in the security industry with its own brand.

Pursuit of excellence in quality

C.C. Hsu, President, LILIN

When mentioning the secret of LILIN to grow even in difficult times, especially when facing the fierce competition from China, Hsu said it is important to understand how and what your company is able to differentiate from others, in technologies and solutions.

“After being tested out in actual projects and environments, our products and solutions are proven reliable and easy to use. Our systems also have been well integrated with other VMS systems, and some major brands in access control systems, so we are able to provide a turnkey solution for customers.”

“Most importantly, we insist to develop our own key technologies in Aida — AI-based video analytics and facial recognition, and VMS, so we are able to differentiate and provide best-of-the-breed products and solutions and even customize them for our customers.”

Just to achieve utmost product quality, LILIN did OEM for Japanese brands, four years ago, which gave the company good confidence in quality issuance.

Comprehensive solutions for verticals

Another secret of LILIN’s success is to keep innovating in providing the right and ready-to-use solutions for customers. “Single products can’t meet the requirements of our clients anymore. Customers need a total solution. Especially when AI comes, the users’ requirements become very specific and detailed, which relies on many technical efforts and project experience of a vendor, like us,” said Hsu. That is why LILIN pays more attention to its local project market in Taiwan to grow its expertise in providing solutions.

Compared to other Taiwanese manufacturers, LILIN is one of the very few companies that are able to provide a complete solution for different verticals, especially for transportation, buildings, healthcare, and industrial sites. Hsu shared some scenarios using LILIN’s solution this year and introduced new demands for AI-based video solutions, in the following:

“Many countries, including Taiwan, have been looking for advanced solutions to solve problems in traffic law enforcement, such as illegal parking, turn left or right violation, and wrong-way detection. To fulfill these goals, LILIN ANPR advances its technologies, with machine learning, to achieve 99.6 percent accuracy, even at the high speed or multiple lanes. It supports wide recognition angle, multinational license plate recognition, and multi-color license plate recognition to provide various smart traffic solutions such as traffic flow management, parking violation management, traffic violation management, parking space counting, and people and car counting for premises capacity, helping the government effectively mitigate vehicular congestion problems.”

“We also see the new demand in protecting the safety of workers in manufacturing and construction sites. The manufacturers need an automated solution, like LILIN Aida, to well manage the hazardous goods and materials, and ensure the workers follow the safe working procedure, such as wearing safety helmet and uniform. LILIN Aida can also help detect left objects, abnormal behaviors, intrusions, and even flame, to further ensure the worker’s safety inside the plants.

Full NDAA compliance drives growth

Compared to other regions, LILIN’s US subsidiary grows the most this year, despite the COVID-19 lockdown. The major factor for this success is its commitment to being NDAA compliant. The new team in the US successfully grows 30-40 percent per month, this year, which further explains the competitiveness of being NDAA compliant.

Hsu commented, “Not many companies can completely fulfill the criteria of NDAA. Our mid-to-high-end cameras are mostly using Ambarella solution. For other types of cameras, we use multiple solutions from Taiwan. For the back-end system, now we are testing some alternative solutions.”

“Furthermore, the LILIN NVR network video recorder now is equipped with Intel’s new 11th generation Intel Core processor, and LILIN AI is also combined with OpenVINO. Through a deep learning boost with VNNI, Iris Xe Graphics, compared with the previous generation UHD Graphics 630, provides more than 4 times increase in deep learning performance.”

Enhanced cyber security services

The insurance of system vulnerability has also become a key factor for users when they select their security systems and partners. “LILIN regularly reviews, investigates, reports, and implements against cyber security vulnerabilities in our products. LILIN’s cyber security assurance team is formed to manage cyber security threats throughout the lifecycle of its products; including design, development, verification, and manufacturing and service phases,” said Hsu.

With these efforts, LILIN is able to provide a better cyber protection of their systems, which can further ensure their clients’ commitment to the end customers.

Continuing growth with perfection

With the four pillars – quality assurance, comprehensive solutions, NDAA compliance, and cyber security assurance, LILIN’s business prediction for 2021 is quite positive, even though most of the industry experts remain pessimistic for the upcoming year. These four pillars form a perfect growth formula for LILIN’s success, which provides them a solid foundation to grow next year.
