Phytrex launches HomeKit-certified WACIO Development Kit for developers

Phytrex Technology, an official MFi-certified Wi-Fi IC/module/solution provider based out of the Asia-Pacific region, offers solutions to those who wish to join the HomeKit ecosystem for developing their own IoT-related accessories for the global market.

"Not only do we build RF modules to be used in end-products, but can also help customers build customized solutions for the HomeKit ecosystem,” Phytrex Sales Director Kelvin Wu said, adding that its services primarily target developers of hardware and software peripherals that work with Apple devices.

Phytrex, a company that continues to focus on mobile security and banking payment applications, now carries its HomeKit solutions to encompass turnkey projects and Wi-Fi modules to sensor package/SIP/WLCSP and finished goods.

"Our smart home solutions have since been applied in smart plugs, smart lighting, smart air conditioners, thermostats…and more recently, smart fans, smart locks, smart sensors, hubs, IP cameras, and so forth,” he explained, noting that its recently-introduced WACIO Development Kit also passed the Apple HomeKit certification, a feat which Phytrex said is the one and only HomeKit Wi-Fi module/EVB for MFi licensees.

Besides modules, the company also offers OTA/Cloud/App/Security integration services to assist Apple MFi developers and manufacturers pass the stages of product auditing on Apple HomeKit.

Commenting on his views regarding Apple’s announcements during WWDC in June, Wu said he expects the HomeKit ecosystem to grow exponentially considering that Apple now has over 1 billion active devices worldwide.

"There is nothing more pleasing than to help developers enter the HomeKit ecosystem while helping them achieve quick time-to-market and to shorten their product development cycle,” he concluded.
