AEviso marks 30 years in Taiwan with i-PRO partnership, bold vision for future

AEviso, a leading security distributor based in Taiwan, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The company has recently clinched the business of i-PRO, which adds to a range of prestigious international brands that company already carries. In this exclusive interview, Michael Meissner, CEO of AEviso, discusses the company’s vision, its partnership with i-PRO, and future goals and objectives.

Founded in 1996, AEviso, which stands for Advanced Equipment for Video Solution, is celebrating 30 years of doing business in Taiwan. This is no small feat given the competitive nature of this industry. Today, AEviso is going stronger than ever and is active in a range of sectors including city surveillance, transportation, retail and education.

One key ingredient to this success is the company’s motto, which AEviso has put into practice since Day 1: “We believe in eminent trust.”

“The trust is based on the fact that we are brand-independent and, due to our industry knowledge and global market connections, we are choosing the best, most famous and safe brands to ensure best protection with highest level of security for our local market,” Meissner said.

He adds AEviso’s corporate culture, which stresses “people before numbers,” has also played a key role. “We built our passionate team with clear vision and infinite mindset, and let the best idea win,” Meissner said. “The majority of our core team has been with us for more than 12 years, some even over 25 years of loyalty.”

i-PRO: ‘A very good fit’

AEviso currently carries the following brands: i-PRO, Pelco, MOBOTIX, Milestone (XProtect and BriefCam), and Promise. Of note, AEviso has just in January this year signed a deal with i-PRO to be its distributor in Taiwan.

Michael Meissner, CEO, AEviso
In fact, AEviso and i-PRO are a perfect match as both share the same management philosophy. “Their slogan is: ‘Security isn't about technology. It's about trust.’ Can you imagine? When I saw this I said, ‘OK, we believe in eminent trust.’ Just from the basic philosophy, this is a very good fit,” Meissner said.

According to Meissner, the partnership didn’t happen just because of i-PRO’s brand prestige. What’s more important is the technical advantages behind this brand. Formerly a part of Panasonic, i-PRO has evolved into a strong player in security with a diverse range of cameras, most of which include cutting-edge features such as outstanding edge AI performance, AI on-site learning, up to 9 AI applications on one edge camera, full NDAA and TAA compliance, and many more.

Another draw is the integration between i-PRO and Milestone, the leading VMS brand that AEviso also carries. “The technical integration between i-PRO and Milestone is one of the deepest, which results in lower setup times for the system integrator as well as easier and much faster access to single images or video sequence footage,” Meissner said.

Meeting market demands

According to Meissner, security is a fluid and dynamic industry where market demands are constantly evolving. AI aside, cloud, cybersecurity, uninterrupted power supply, data redundancy and multi-sensor technologies are also trending heavily in security today. With its portfolio of diverse and cutting-edge brands and solutions, AEviso stands ready to address market demands and challenges.

As far as cybersecurity is concerned, known regulations, such as Taiwan’s CNS 16120-3 Standard, are also playing an important role in keeping security systems safe and secure. AEviso is strongly committed to cybersecurity by offering products that follow stringent local and international standards.

Meissner cites i-PRO as an example. “i-PRO is complying with US standard FIPS 140-2 Level 3 or FIPS 140-3 Level 3. Of course, it is not just about the components of a VSS (video surveillance system), but the entire system setup including switches and all network-related hardware and software,” he said.

Beyond known regulations in Taiwan, Meissner is also pushing for key international standards that he said Taiwan should adopt. One example is IEC 62676-4:2025, the revised international application guideline for video surveillance systems. In fact, the revision was spearheaded by Meissner himself, who was appointed by IEC as project lead to rework with an international team of VSS experts for the revision of the old 2014 edition.

“We addressed all the technical changes and all the structural changes and renewed the standard. The majority of countries voted for this because they see this is better compared to the old one. And it would be a waste if we don't use it here in the Taiwan market,” Meissner said.

Meissner further cites the importance of security in critical infrastructure, which is divided into 16 sectors, including chemicals, commercial facilities and communications, by the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. It’s important to note that security should be tailored to the specific needs and demands of each sector.

“It is obvious that there is no single scalable solution for VSS in critical infrastructure, meaning that every single sector and sub-sector of critical infrastructure industry needs individually assigned and designed security solutions,” Meissner said. “With the bunch of different brands we carry as a local distributor, we are addressing the demands of the Taiwan VSS market and are able to adjust ourselves with high flexibility and agility for future demands.”

From SIs to ‘resilience providers’

As for AEviso’s future plans, the company wants to not just sell products but also educate and transfer knowledge on security. That said, the company plans to open its AEviso Academy in Q1 2027, where stakeholders such as architects and engineers, law enforcement personnel, and security executives from critical infrastructure can get the latest information on security as well as get trained on building resilience against various types of threats.

“We want to help our SIs to be ‘resilience providers.’ This is our job. This is our part of the long-term, long-haul strategy,” Meissner said. “We'd like to educate, we'd like to help to get people to a higher level, to have a higher-level security in Taiwan.”

Meissner adds that with the theoretical knowledge of VSS transferred by the AEviso Academy, all learned features and functions will, starting September 2026, be visible in the newly opened AEviso Experience Center where latest AI technology, on-edge and cloud platforms as well as state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions will be on display.

“All major hardware and software will be constantly showcased to ensure that ‘what has been said can also be seen.’ In the end, it’s all about ‘to see is to believe,’” Meissner said.
