The fourth installment in asmag.com's 2016 top 10 security products focuses on access control locks. Once again, the top 10 products have been chosen based on page views from asmag.com.

To qualify for the top 10, the products on this list all adhere to the following guidelines:

• The main purpose of the product must be for security/access control purposes
• Only one product per company was chosen

Trends in 2016 saw an increased adoption of wireless online electronic locks, mainly due to the energy and cost-efficiency of wireless technology. Moreover, the Internet of Things (IoT) has made a signifcant impact on the residential security market, boosting the popularity of mobile access locks.  Business owners no longer have to spend money and time on replacing lost keys, thanks to the simplicity of enabling a smartphone to securely open a door or gate or sending virtual keys to visitors, mobile access locks . 1. Salto XS4 Mini access control

The XS4 Mini by Salto Systems has an easy-to-install design which makes it simple for security professionals to upgrade security and replace mechanical key operated door locks with the latest electronic access control solution suitable for a wide range of customer applications. 3. Allegion Briton 5600 series locks and cylinders

The Allegion Briton 5600 series features specialized functions, such as the Briton 5650 Nightlatch with anti-thrust for protection against vandalism. Briton 5660 is an escape lock ideal for commercial buildings such as offices, schools, universities and hospitality outlets. With a split follower function, the lock enables both the deadbolt and latch bolt to be withdrawn simultaneously inside the lever handle for swift and easy exits.

4. Glonexs GD-1000 electric deadbolt

The Glonexs GD-1000 electric deadbolt is a door locking device which can be concealed in the door frame, used commonly for swing doors, fire doors and timber doors. With a door monitoring detection switch, the open and close status of the door can be monitored. In standby mode, power consumption is reduced, emitting almost no internal heat.

5. EVVA AirKey and combi keys

The smartphone-based electronic locking system AirKey offers flexibility for the daily business, particularly for enterprises with distributed locations. The systems consists of an NFC-compatible smartphone and an Airkey cylinder. The high-security servers at EVVA guarantee 24/7 data availability. Identification media, such as cards or key tags can also be programmed by directly using a mobile phone or alternatively a coding station. 7. Pongee PML-080A mini electromagnetic lock

The Pongee PML-080A is a mini electromagnetic lock framed with aluminum alloy for crash resistance. With its compact size, the lock can withstand up to 66 kg holding force. Moreover, the PML-080A can be easily installed and is suitable for drawers, lockers, mailboxes and similar devices to be used as management.

8. Suntrust EB-2501 electric bolt lock

The EB-2501 electric bolt lock by Suntrust Security Equipment has an alloy housing with door position status sensors when a door is opened or closed. Moreover, the lock status sensors also indicate when the deadbolt is locked or unlocked. The lock also consists of a warning buzzer, which notified operators when there is an error status or forced entry situations.

9. Algatec UL275-SK electromagnetic lock with greater LED lens

The Algatec UL275-SK by UWC Electric electromagnetic lock is designed to meet fire or life safety applications by providing an auxiliary locking mechanism that has no moving parts to bind or wear out for trouble free operation. This will ensure inhibited release at all times where they have become extremely prevalent in applications other than fire/life safety. Suitable for access controlled and secure areas within buildings.

10. ASSA ABLOY Hospitality VingCard Essence electronic lock

The VingCard Essence by ASSA ABLOY Hospitality is an electronic lock with a sleek and minimalistic design which blends well with any hotel décor with a stylish reader and electronics that are housed inside the door. The VingCard Essence is available with both wireless online capabilities and ASSA ABLOY Hospitality Mobile Access, so guests can access their rooms using their smartphone or watch via a digital access key.
