Hikvision, a global leader in the AI-powered Internet of Things (AIoT), recently launched its new AOV 4G Solar Camera Series. The introduction of the new series delivers reliable, continuous video security in remote, off-grid environments.

Product overview

The newly released models include:
•     DS-2CFSP4/4G: 4 MP PT camera (single-lens) — launched
•     DS-2CFS04/4G: 4 MP bullet camera (single-lens) — launched
•     DS-2CFSP8-D/4G: Dual-lens PT camera (4 MP + 4 MP) — to be launched in January 2026

Addressing critical market gaps

In remote areas without electricity or network access, traditional cameras face deployment challenges. Earlier generations of 4G solar cameras, which rely on PIR technology, are prone to missed recordings, false alarms, and power management issues. They enter sleep mode when no motion is detected, leaving critical moments unrecorded and creating gaps in security coverage.
Hikvision's AOV (Always On Video) technology fundamentally changes this paradigm. By maintaining cameras in an active yet ultra-low-power recording state, AOV ensures genuine 24/7 continuous video coverage.

Core technology and features

Always-On-Video technology

Unlike traditional PIR-based cameras that only record when motion is detected, AOV enables intelligent adaptive frame rate control:
•     During static scenes: Records at one frame every two seconds for minimal power consumption
•     Upon event detection: Instantly switches to 15 fps for smooth, detailed footage

This approach ensures complete records while the AOV recording mechanism reduces storage to approximately 1/30 of the standard full-time recording.

Advanced power management

Each model features a 9000mAh battery providing up to seven days of continuous operation without sunlight under typical conditions (50 alarms/day, 10 minutes of live view, 10 PT operations). Combined with efficient solar charging panels, the cameras provide long-lasting performance across a wide range of environmental conditions.

4G wireless connectivity

With built-in 4G, the cameras can be deployed flexibly without network cables—ideal for temporary or remote sites. Just insert the SIM and SD cards, power on the device, scan the QR code via Hik-Connect to add it, and have a live view on the phone right away.

AI-Powered Detection

AI Visual detection helps detect persons and vehicles accurately, significantly reducing false alarms while ensuring relevant events are captured and flagged.

Applications

The AOV 4G Solar Camera Series is engineered for diverse off-grid scenarios, including agricultural facilities (farms, orchards, ranches, tea plantations), residential backyards, temporary construction sites, and any location requiring reliable surveillance without access to power or a network.

"AOV technology represents a major leap forward for solar-powered cameras," said Rubio Hong, Product Director at Hikvision. "It allows users to capture every moment continuously – combining reliability, efficiency, and ease of use in one integrated solution."
