Honeywell outlined ambitious plans to expand its presence in the Middle East, leveraging its expertise in smart cities, transportation, and sustainability, as it showcased its offerings at the Intersec trade show in Dubai.
Speaking at the sidelines of the show, Nabil Cheqroun, Chief Commercial Officer of Honeywell Building Automation in META, said that the company, which recently acquired LenelS2, has bolstered its product portfolio with advanced access control and video management systems, positioning itself as a leader in security and hospitality.
"With this acquisition, we’ve significantly bolstered our portfolio and broadened our range of capabilities," Cheqroun said.
Expanding Smart City footprint
Honeywell highlighted its leadership in smart city development, with major projects across the region. The company played a pivotal role in building New Administrative Capital, the world’s largest smart city, designed with sustainability, mobility, safety, and quality of life as its core pillars.
In Saudi Arabia, Honeywell is involved in NEOM and King Salman Energy Park, while in the UAE, the company has supported private developers integrating smart city technologies.
"Each country has its own priorities, whether it’s mobility, security, or sustainability, but the key is integrating systems to create seamless, citizen-centric solutions," Cheqroun said.
Transportation and mobility solutions
Transportation is another area where Honeywell is focusing its resources. The company is deploying rail solutions and working with regional stakeholders to enhance safety and efficiency in rail systems.
"We see transportation and mobility as key growth areas, particularly in metros, railways, airports, and stadiums," Cheqroun added.
Driving sustainability and digitalization
The Middle East’s focus on sustainability, amplified by recent COP events in Egypt and the UAE, aligns with Honeywell’s strategy to provide solutions that support carbon footprint reduction and energy efficiency.
The company is also capitalizing on the region’s digital transformation, offering integrated software platforms that enable predictive analytics for urban management.
Hospitality and healthcare vertical focus
Honeywell is also prioritizing key verticals, including hospitality, data centers, and healthcare.
At Intersec, the company’s booth showcased solutions tailored to these sectors, underscoring its commitment to addressing evolving market needs.
Positive outlook for the region
Honeywell sees strong opportunities in the Middle East for 2024 and beyond.
“Last year was phenomenal, with significant wins and floated projects,” Cheqroun said. “The Middle East offers unparalleled opportunities to emphasize infrastructure development, particularly in transportation and smart cities, where Honeywell proudly leads the way.”
The company’s strategic focus positions it to capitalize on the region’s rapid growth and transformation, underscoring its role as a key player in driving innovation and sustainability.
