Secutech Taiwan commences, showcasing advancements in AI and IoT security solutions

Secutech Taiwan, a leading exhibition dedicated to security and smart technology solutions, opened its doors to visitors today. The event, which runs from April 24-26, 2024, has positioned itself as a prominent platform for showcasing AI and IoT solutions, attracting a global audience of buyers seeking to source the latest solutions and foster collaborative business ventures.

Day 1 show highlights:

  • Micron microSD cards designed for data-intensive AI applications
  • DEEPX highlights power of NPU and AI box to target growing AI market demand
  • Yu Heng Electric smart building IoT access control solutions

Micron microSD cards designed for data-intensive AI applications

At the booth this year, Jimmy Chen, President of Wavellite, a Taiwanese distributor of industrial PC (IPC) solid-state drives (SSDs) and flash drives, discussed his company offerings and technology partnership with Micron Technology. Focused on the consumer, system integrator and IT segments, Chen emphasized their commitment to building strong client relationships and providing long-term, stable after-sales service to ensure no future issues for their customers.

AI is a major area of interest within the Taiwanese market, driven by local software development. However, full adoption and maturity of AI functionalities are still in the early stages. One promising application Mr. Chen identified is AI-powered baggage handling and loading optimization applications at airports.

Wavellite's selection of Micron Technology as a technology partner was a strategic decision. "Micron Technology is a well-established and respected brand in the market," Chen explained. "Industrial PCs require durable and reliable memory and storage solutions. In our experience, Micron products demonstrate long-term video streaming stability without frame drops." This is especially crucial for AI applications, where non-industrial grade SD cards may not be as ideal for IPC SSDs and flash drives used for AI workloads.

Micron i400 microSD cards are specifically designed for industrial applications, such as video security. They offer a wide capacity range from 256GB to 1.5TB, enhancing performance through recording redundancy and network load reduction.

DEEPX highlights power of NPU and AI box to target growing AI market demand

Speaking of AI, it is crucial to consider the underlying AI chip technology that can support data-intensive processing required for these applications. DEEPX, a Korean AI semiconductor manufacturer was at Secutech Taiwan, to highlight the power of their in-house neural processing unit (NPU) and IPCs.

Joseph Kim, Department Manager for Sales and Marketing for DEEPX also spoke about their technology partnership with Aetina for an AI box that enables cameras with on-board AI functionalities, turning them into edge devices that can process video data captured directly by the camera, lowering bandwidth requirements and response times.

The company has also fostered strategic partnerships with multiple industry leaders in the market such as Advantech, Wistron and Aetina in Taiwan, as well as other technology providers such as Hikrobot, LG Electronics, IDIS and CAMMSYS.

According to the company, the DEEPX DX-M1 chip can offer both power efficiency and performance, supporting real-time AI computational processing at a rate exceeding 30 frames per second for up to 16 channels of multichannel video data.
The chip would be able to support AI algorithms tailored for various applications – such as for object and facial recognition in security and video surveillance, and for IPCs and robotics such as those used in the manufacturing vertical.

Yu Heng Electric smart building IoT solutions

Yuan-Shun Electric, a Taiwanese manufacturer and designer of security and safety products showcased its end-to-end product portfolio encompassing IP cameras, sensors, access control, locks and alarm control systems here at Secutech Taiwan this year.

On display this year is their smart building IoT solutions. Their local network IP access control system integrates seamlessly with intercom and card readers, offering remote management via their mobile application. According to Jiang Zhi Cheng, General Manager for Yuan-Shun Electric, the company stands out in the market for its investment in in-house development process – developing everything from IC to hardware core to software development and UI design. This enables them to work closely with the clients to deliver highly customizable solutions.

The company prioritizes integration, recognizing the ongoing trend towards system integration in the Taiwan security market. Their smart building solutions are designed to integrate with third-party devices.

A highlight this year is their MS-160V-C indoor touch screen intercom security unit. Unlike other access control devices that rely solely on images, the MS-160V-C boasts a video recording function with customizable video lengths of 10,15 or 20 seconds. This feature enhances security by enabling immediate visual verification and instant alerts to be sent to the police/authorities if needed. The video data is securely stored on the device’s memory card for easy retrieval.
