ISC West 2024 kicks off in Vegas, attracts with exhibition, fringe events
This year's show takes place Apr. 9 to 12. The Venetian Expo in Las Vegas will again serve as the venue for the event.
ISC West, the leading trade event in physical security, kicks off in Vegas this week. The 2024 edition of the show features the latest technology and trends in security, as well as a series of fringe events including keynotes, award presentations and a concert headlined by the Wallflowers. This article takes a look at what to expect at this year’s show.
ISC West, of which is an international media partner, has long been known as a leading event in the security industry. This year the show takes place Apr. 9 to 12, with the main show taking place from Apr. 10 to 12 and SIA education sessions from Apr. 9 to 11. The Venetian Expo (formerly Sands Expo) in Las Vegas will again serve as the venue for the event.
Each year, ISC West is held amid security-related incidents and challenges seen across the United States. According to the Association of Health Care Journalists, in 2023, 42,967 people died in the U.S. from gun related injuries. The organization also states between 2010 and 2020, gun-related deaths rose by roughly 43 percent, and every day, on average at least 327 people are shot across the U.S.
Meanwhile, while artificial intelligence is on the rise and has become more popular than ever, criminals are also using AI-related technologies, such as voice-cloning and deepfakes, against the society.
ISC West, then, provides a platform for exhibitors to showcase their latest technologies and innovations to combat those issues. Shooter Detection Systems, for example, will unveil new developments in their gunshot detection solutions, including an introduction to the market’s only platform offering video, access control, shot detection, and remote monitoring all in one solution. Homaxi, meanwhile, will announce updates to their proactive Active Deterrence solution designed to coordinate deep learning algorithms, sirens, light warning devices and other active deterrence products to help prevent potential crimes before they occur.
On the issue of using AI, voice-cloning and deepfake technologies to engage in criminal activities, ISC West this year brings back Theresa Payton, the first female White House Chief Information Officer, who will speak in the keynote – “How AI, Deepfakes, Voice Cloning and ChatGPT Are Transforming Cybercrime – And How to Future-Proof Yourself and Your Business Now.” According to ISC West, Payton will in this presentation take a deep dive into real-world cases along with live AI demonstrations that show how criminals can attack end user organizations, but more importantly, how they can fight back against such attacks.

Variety of fringe events

Besides the keynotes, ISC West this year will also feature a variety of fringe events. These include the SIA New Products + Solutions Awards Ceremony, where the SIA New Products and Solutions (NPS) Awards are given to recognize innovative physical security products, services, and solutions, with entries closely reviewed by over 30 independent judges. Adjacent to the awards ceremony at The Bridge stage, attendees can find a showcase area where they can experience all the products entered into this judged awards program. SIA’s Return on Security breakfast, meanwhile, brings together thought leaders and experts for an event and open discussion that looks into how security solutions can provide value to the entire enterprise and in turn help security practitioners attain budget buy-in from nontraditional business units.
Last but not least, ISC West will host the Grammy-winning rock band, The Wallflowers (whose leader singer/guitarist Jakob Dylan is the son of Bob Dylan), as the headliner for the first ISC West Concert. The after-hours concert will take place on April 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Main Stage, located in the Venetian Ballrooms, just off the show floor. DJ Spencer Ludwig will kick off the ISC West Concert followed by The Wallflowers. will have a presence at ISC West 2024. Click here for more ISC West-related products and solutions.
