Full-color Cube: Unlock color magic

Full-color Cube: Unlock color magic
Dahua has introduced the “Full-color Cube” concept, which combines Full-color and Smart Dual Light with various camera models to meet end users’ lowlight color-capturing needs. This article takes a closer look.
Five years ago, Dahua launched its Full-color technology to great success. Now Dahua has introduced the “Full-color Cube” concept, which combines Full-color and Smart Dual Light with various camera models to meet end users’ lowlight color-capturing needs. This article takes a closer look.

Needless to say, color is an important attribute in an object, be it a car or person. Capturing detailed color information, especially in challenging lighting conditions, thus becomes critical in video surveillance.

To this end, Dahua rolled out its Full-color technology in 2018. Since then, Full-color technology has been continuously innovated and developed to meet various monitoring challenges in low-light conditions. In the beginning, Dahua wanted to develop a product that could retain 24/7 color information and improve details at night. Fast-forward a couple of years to TiOC (Three-in-One Camera), which integrated Full-color technology with AI and Active Deterrence. One year Later, Dahua upgraded their Full-color capabilities even further with Smart Dual Light technology which premiered in the TiOC 2.0 Series.

Today, combined with AI, 4K, Zoom and other Dahua key technologies, the Full-color and Smart Dual Light series camera can do more than anyone could imagine. It breaks the barriers of time and space and adapts to the habits of diverse users, providing more assistance and protection. That said, Dahua has launched the Full-color Cube concept for 2023 – a cube of color magic that combines Full-color and Smart Dual Light and other technologies into infinite possibilities of innovation. It symbolizes panoramic vision, more personalized and flexible settings, intelligence at will, and future growth.

“The inner core of this ever-growing technological cube is Full-color and Smart Dual Light technology. This year, we have combined them with Duo and PT cameras to achieve colorful panoramic experience. Next, with our latest TiOC series, we have integrated Smart Dual Light with AI and Active Deterrence that can provide full-time protection before, during or after an event. What's more, our newly released and upcoming products include the Vari-focal and TiOC DUO Series,” said Eaden Xie, Product Manager at Dahua Technology.

Smart Dual Light

In challenging lighting conditions, color technology can be complemented with advanced lighting solutions to provide further benefits to users. To this end, Dahua has developed its Smart Dual Light technology, which adopts a smart algorithm to accurately detect targets. In the Smart Illumination Mode, the camera switches to color monitoring only when a person appears in the monitoring screen, and switches back to IR light after the person leaves. This mode can not only record events in color, but also minimize the activation time of warm light and reduce interference to people.

Smart Dual light has various applications; retail is one example. For retail stores, should a burglary occur after business hours, the owner needs to be able to obtain color images for evidence. With Smart Dual Light, when no one is around, the camera uses IR light and is unnoticeable to the outside world. When someone intrudes, the camera switches to warm complement light to record color information, while white light acts as a deterrent to drive away intruders.

Full-color + Panoramic

Full-color + Panoramic encompasses Dahua’s Duo and PT cameras, which are made even more powerful with Full-color.

As its name suggests, the Full-color Duo series uses two F1.0 lenses, which achieve 2.5 times light intake compared to the traditional F1.6 aperture, and two 1/1.8" large-size CMOS sensors, which increase the sensitive area by 110 percent compared to the traditional 1/2.8" sensor. That, plus Dahua’s advanced pixel-level metadata fusion algorithm, enables the Full-color Duo to output 180-degree wide-angle full-color images.

And Full-color Duo’s functionality doesn’t just end there. “EPTZ is another main features of this camera. The ultra-high resolution of 4K ensures a clear image even when enlarged,” Xie said.

The Full-color PT cameras also come with various features. Among them, ease of installation is a main highlight. The camera uses a multi-function bracket with a compact body design that can be effectively mounted on poles, ceilings and walls. Furthermore, the user can use the PT function to expand their monitoring area when an event occurs; there is no need to repeatedly adjust the monitoring angle to get a better view. With Full-color, the camera can get detailed color information regardless time of the day.

TiOC

TiOC combines three cutting-edge technologies in one device, namely Smart Dual Light, Active Deterrence and AI. The camera offers full-time protection before, during, and after an event.

“Before the event, SMD 4.0 and Perimeter Protection Technology can effectively filter out false alarms and focus on the human and vehicle of concern. During the event process, Smart Dual Light technology can record events in color, while red and blue flashing lights and sound alarm can deter and drive away intruders,” Xie said. “After event, Smart Search can quickly search for footage of human and vehicle, which can shorten the investigation and backtrack of the incident.”

Another highlight of TiOC is connection with a third-party platform through Dahua SDK, API or ONVIF Standard Protocol to realize live view/playback, video and audio parameter configuration, and events received in platform, among others.

Choosing the right Full-color solution

With the aforementioned solutions, choosing the best one again depends on the user’s own use scenario.

“Full-color Duo and Full-color PT are good for low-light surveillance in large scenes. Duo can achieve 180-degree wide angle full-color monitoring, suitable for school, playground, square, hall and parking lots. The PT rotates horizontally and vertically, reducing blind spots in the visual field. It’s suitable for use in retail stores, villas and offices,” Xie said.

“TiOC,” he added, “is mainly used for alarms and driving intruders away and can be used in private areas such as villas and warehouses. It can accurately detect targets and drive away intruders in time with sound and flashing light, and push alarm information to users through mobile app. For public areas such as fire escapes and emergency rescue lanes, TiOC can effectively maintain unobstructed emergency paths to enhance public security.”

Conclusion

Indeed, incorporating advanced color and illumination technologies into cameras has become a trend. Dahua has caught up with this trend well. They launched Full-color + 4K, Full-color + Zoom, and Smart Dual Light + Active Deterrence + AI in 2021. Now they have further introduced the Full-color Cube, based on which to roll out even more advanced camera technologies namely Full-color Duo, Full-color PT and TiOC. In the future we can expect Dahua to launch more innovative, cutting-edge solutions to effectively address users’ lowlight color-capturing needs.
