Asmag.com surveyed its reader database of physical security professionals from January to February 2022 to better understand the market and understand which features they prioritized the most. The 2022 reader survey focused on four main security product categories: facial recognition, ANPR/ALPR, perimeter detection & AI cameras.

Asmag.com surveyed its reader database of physical security professionals from January to February 2022. Invitations to take the online survey were shared on social media and sent to potential respondents via asmag.com and its media partners: a&s Adria, a&s India and a&s Japan. 

The goal of the "reader survey - top security brands" was to:

  • find out who the major players are for the selected product categories, as chosen by the professionals who are directly involved in the purchase, installation, use and maintenance
  • ​understand which key product features are most important to the physical security market
  • understand features or solutions security professionals would like improved or added in the near future

​The survey focused on four product categories:

  • Facial recognition
  • Perimeter intrusion detection (PID)
  • ANPR/ALPR license plate recognition solutions
  • AI cameras

Survey details

To achieve the goals of the reader survey, potential respondents were asked three open-ended questions for each product category:
  • Which 3-5 security brands come first to mind and would recommend to your peers?
  • Which features made each of these brands your top choice?
  • If you can give manufacturers a wish list, which services/features are lacking or need improvement?
After a review of the responses and data cleansing, the following number of respondents were included in the analysis:
  • Facial recognition - 155 
  • PID - 133
  • AI cameras - 139
  • ANPR/ALPR solutions - 142

Survey demographics

Geographic region

Our survey sample encompasses all regions: Asia Pacific and Oceania (34%), Europe (24%), MENA (23%) and Americas (19%).

Job function

Representative of our reader database, the respondents consisted of physical security industry channel players. Due to rounding and survey design (multiple responses allowed), this will not equal 100%.

Industries
