In its 3 weeks of operation the system has over 2 000 users and 16 000 successful remote check-ins have been performed making good use of our facial recognition software and GPS tracking feature. The concept behind the Home Quarantine System was to deliver an easy-to-use smartphone application that helps authorities check remotely that quarantined people stay at home.

Identity verification used during registration and remote check-ins in the Home Quarantine System has put our facial recognition software to the test. But how do we use face recognition exactly? Registrants to the Home Quarantine System are required to take a selfie photo which is first matched with an official ID picture from the government database and second, used as a reference for remote check-ins. The user of the app takes selfie pictures when performing remote check-ins, and the face recognition software matches the pictures with the reference picture to verify the identity of the user. The software performance has been outstanding, only 0,5% of the checks needed manual verification.
What are the most important features of our face recognition software?
- Face detection: the software returns events, even if there is no stored image to match with the face of the observed person and therefore is ideal for people counting.
- Facial recognition: the software compares the detected faces with those in the database and identifies the person.
- Anti-spoofing: The software detects fraud attempts in case of events when a live face could not be detected (image, mask, etc.) and alerts the operator.
Our facial recognition technology is currently used in the Home Quarantine System and Access Shield, Asura’s high security vehicle access control solution.
