Security systems working in silos have long been a source of inconvenience. A central platform integrating video, access control and other systems however can be a costly proposition. An integrated solution for typical commercial users, therefore, is seeing a rise in demand. This is where U.K.-based company Xanview comes in.

“Xanview is a revolutionary cloud video surveillance and security system. It saves costs and time, while offering an unprecedented level of usability,” said Regina Shmerlin, Chief Commercial Officer of Xanview. “Additionally, Xanview’s powerful technology integrates video surveillance with alarms, access control, EPOS and more.”

According to Shmerlin, the way physical security devices work presently is often characterized by inefficiency, which sits in the fact that it takes too long to manage, use and review output from physical security devices. The lack of self-diagnostic capabilities in some systems is another drawback, she said.

“Presently, the video surveillance market is dominated by NVRs/DVRs, VMS and cloud cameras. NVRs/DVRs provide basic recording and some remote access to cameras, but there is not an easy way to quickly aggregate and easily review all footage. There is also no way to know if the NVR/DVR and cameras are working properly or to resolve issues without going onsite. VMS facilitates footage review and analysis, but given its costs, it is used more by enterprise clients,” she said. “Cloud cameras provide remote viewing capabilities and offsite backup storage, but are more useful in the home DIY space because of their mandatory monthly costs and heavy bandwidth requirements. Further, they restrict users to the specific cloud camera models, which makes them unsuitable for most commercial users.”

Shmerlin said that with growing security concerns, technological advancements and an increased trend towards constant information flow, there is a drastic need for evolution. That’s where her company comes into play, she stressed.

Central hub for all video surveillance

Xanview serves as a central hub for all video surveillance, Shmerlin said. “Xanview unifies all cameras and locations, with none of the complexities of installation or time consuming post support issues experienced with other systems. It analyses and summarizes past footage so that reviewing or finding a past incident takes seconds. Cloud storage is much more cost effective and available with any camera. Further, installers are able to monitor and troubleshoot all of their client’s systems remotely, which saves them up to 70 percent of time in driving on site and informs them of potential system issues,” she said. “Xanview is also self-monitoring and sends notifications of any potential issues such a camera malfunctioning or a system going offline. Finally, Xanview integrates with alarms and other physical security devices to create a more complete central security hub.”

The solution consists of two parts: the TimeBox and the TimeLine. The TimeBox is a piece of hardware which goes on site and feeds the client’s video nto Xanview’s cloud server. TimeLine: is a website/app where each client logs in to access recorded, live footage and other information from their physical security devices. “Recorded events, system status and access are summarized in an easy to use format and notifications are sent in case of issues. It is essentially an easily accessible central hub, which presents information from all locations and physical security devices in a relevant way,” she said.

According to Shmerlin, Xanview’s team has done extensive commercial and technological market testing among U.K.-based and international clients in a broad array of vertical markets including financial, police, retail, restaurants, offices, education and housing associations. “We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback on the solution we offer. Users say they have not seen anything like our system and do not want to use other system after trying Xanview,” she said.
