Afidus unveils new H.265 36CH Hybrid standalone NVR

Afidus unveils new H.265 36CH Hybrid standalone NVR
For many years now, IP-based camera systems have been increasing in popularity. However, despite the many benefits of IP technology, analog-based surveillance systems are not going away anytime soon. There are millions of analog cameras already in place, so unless the project involves a newly constructed building with a complete network infrastructure, most customers will choose to keep the original equipment as budget is an important consideration.

In addition, many customers want to adopt high resolution solutions that can, at the same time, minimize storage space to retrench costs. How can the latest technology be used to satisfy all these needs?

In order to help the customers, Afidus launched the R-36A, an H.265 36-channel standalone NVR. The R36A can connect to 36-channel H.265 5M Afidus IP cameras and support up to eight 8TB HDDs. As with other Afidus NVR family solutions, this comes bundled with free 256-channel CMS to help users manage multiple R-36A devices.

Afidus’ R-36A has now been installed in several projects, including a residential project in Vietnam and in a shopping mall in Taiwan. When deployed in medium or large size projects, R-36A can be leveraged to solve the problems mentioned above.

Typically, customers have no choice but to sacrifice image quality as they try to find the balance between recording video quality (resolution and frame) and the cost of storage. However, this dilemma can be resolved with the latest H.265 technology, since this can offer a solution that features both high image quality and lower storage space requirements.

The application of H.265 technology proved advantageous in the Vietnam residential project, where 5M resolution enabled a wider area of coverage despite a lower camera count. Furthermore, the video compression technology allowed the clients to save on storage expense.

For the shopping mall project in Taiwan, the client was determined to keep the analog cameras that were already installed in the elevator. To save on the cost of rearranging the cables, which is often involved in this type of renovation  or equipment replacement project, R-36A was deployed because it can access both AHD NVRs and DVRS. This is a good option for users who would like to keep their current analog systems (AHD and video surveillance) due to budgetary concerns.

Hence, server system NVRs are no longer the only choice for these projects, Afidus’ R-36A NVRs may provide users with a better, cost-effective solution.
