As a relatively new company, Nokē brings something unique to the security industry: Bluetooth-enabled padlocks that can be locked and unlocked by users’ smart devices.

“By using our Bluetooth enabled locks in conjunction with our Nokē app, not only can you rid yourself of annoying keys and combinations, but you can also share and revoke custom access to your lock with friends and family, monitor the history of your lock, and track its location with the unique Nokē GPS feature,” said Hailey Gengler, who is in charge of Digital Marketing at Nokē. “We set out to give consumers every feature they could ever want, all in one attractive, easy-to-use padlock.”

The locks have various applications. “People use our locks for a wide range of things like locking up their commuter bikes, gym lockers, cabins and trailers all the way to managing large corporate enterprises, shipping companies, and storage unit centers,” Gengler said. “Fleet management operators can have control over huge amounts of locks at once. They can share and revoke custom access, track GPS location, and monitor the history of locks being used by employees all over the world so they never have to be left in the dark about security again. It gives them control, saves time and money, increases efficiency, and provides top security in an incredibly valuable way.”

Nokē had a background in non-security, making other consumer electronic products like charging docks and cases. Sensing the growth potential for smart padlocks, the founders entered the security field and founded the company in 2014.

In fact, Gengler said now is an opportune moment to enter this particular sector. “There is still a lot of opportunity for new players because there are so many different types of locks that still haven’t been innovated, and for each type of lock there are many different features and functionalities that can be implemented to fit each specific purpose,” she said. “There are so many unique directions that security can be taken, especially when it comes to IoT security products and it will be exciting to see where it goes in the next few years.”

As for this year, Noke has set clear goals. “We want to get into at least four major retailers, introduce four new products, and expand distribution globally,” Gengler said. “We aim to grow revenue by five times 2014. Yes, we definitely expect growth from last year.”
