a&s talked to M.Rustu ARSEVEN, GM & Board Member of TESAN, which has been working as distributor of many brands and also its own brand, TTEC, to both consumer and enterprise security markets. The company has more than 2000 partners, including resellers, systems integrators, and chain markets.

M.Rustu ARSEVEN, GM & Board Member of TESAN shared the following comments at secutech 2014:

Turkey is one of the most challenging markets throughout the world, when it comes to security. Foreign manufacturers might get impressed with the population figures of Turkey which is 77 million, by its similarity to Germany's 82 million of population. However, in Germany, the average IT spending per person is around US$1,080 whereas it is $150 in Turkey, according to IDC. With its young population, Turkey might be a great potential but the market has not reached its maturity yet, due to lack of prosperity and education, within the majority of citizens.

In Turkey, security market can be analyzed in 2 groups: Around 60 to 65% of the enterprise segment prefers IP products against analog, whereas SMB segment don't even reach 15% with IP products. Therefore, TESAN has put a lot of efforts in educating our systems integrators to understand IP more. We assume in 2015 or 2016, the market of IP-based security products will start to grow rapidly.

Pace of technological developments, which have initially started in Japan and Korea, has increased significantly with Taiwan's contribution, which brought competition as a result. Taiwanese companies have made difference with R&D investments as well as their success in relationship management. Chinese companies, that were struggling to take their share from analog market, have moved to IP based products and achieved great accomplishments within the past 2 years. We presume competition will be on IP based products during the next 3 to 5 years.
