Tri-Ed further expands locally and internationally

Tri-Ed Distribution just announced the formation of the International Alliance of Independent Security Distributors with Aditya Infotech (AIL) this September. By this alliance, Tri-Ed is pre-announcing its next step: to go international. How the alliance of the largest independent distributors in North America and India will influence global security channels is also worth noticing.

Tri-Ed Distribution has been very active in the security industry over the past 30 years. After its recent strategic acquisitions of Northern Video in 2010 and Seabreeze Security Distributors and SGI in 2012, Tri-Ed has become the largest independent security distributor in North America. Now, the company is planning to pave its way to the international market. The company took its first global step this September, cofounding the International Alliance of Independent Security Distributors, with Aditya Infotech (AIL), India's largest security & safety products distribution house and a leading global player in video surveillance & safety products and solutions.

International Distribution Alliance
Tri-Ed plans to expand internationally in the future. Instead of taking steps to acquire a company, Tri-Ed wants to associate itself with more international independent distributors in order to cultivate more connection and share information on new trends and market insights.

Based on the mutual interests of its members, the alliance enables members to work cooperatively but also independently, “which also helps us to tremendously combine volume from different manufacturers to drive better pricing,” according to Pat Comunale, President and CEO of Tri-Ed. “Security in the U.S. is still a volume-oriented market. By this alliance, we can keep driving the volume to consolidate our expense and further to reinforce our sales force as well.”

This alliance will help all parties involved support manufacturers and local customers. “It will also be of great value to our vendors in their R&D efforts, allowing them to tailor their products and technologies to current market conditions.”

Tri-Ed and AIL will be inviting other key distributors from other parts of the world, such as Europe, South Africa and Australia, to join the alliance.

Keep Expanding in North America
In North America, Tri-Ed continues to expand its local service points. “Security is still a very fragmented industry. In the U.S., we really need a [wide] local presence to provide services and products to all the markets and customers.” Over the past 8 years, Tri-Ed has increased its footprint from 20 to 65 locations through organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
