The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) awarded US$938,000 to Rochester International Airport (RST) for the construction of inline baggage handling systems designed to enhance TSA's efforts to strengthen security at airports.

"We look forward to working with the airport on the construction of two inline baggage screening systems, which will both strengthen security and make the screening process faster and more efficient," said Tom Connors, Federal Security Director.

The funding will be used to construct new inline systems at the Delta and American Eagle ticket counters. The inline baggage handling systems will better serve the more than 320,000 passengers traveling through Rochester International each year. When completed, RST will feature 100 percent inline screening, greatly improving airport efficiency.

"This project will streamline the ticketing and boarding process for all RST passengers and is the result of partnership between the Rochester International Airport and the TSA," said Steven Leqve, Airport Manager.
