NEC Asia , a IT and network solutions provider and systems integrator based in Singapore, and a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC, announced it has been identified as one of the five key regional headquarters by NEC, and will undergo a name change to become NEC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (NEC APAC) effective April 1.

This exercise is in accordance to the "One NEC" concept listed in the Mid-Term Growth Plan set by NEC, which seeks to realign and integrate its regional subsidiaries so as to establish a stronger presence in their respective regions.  Asia Pacific, being one of the five key growth areas identified under this Plan, will cover nine countries including Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. NEC Asia's CEO, Kiyofumi Kusaka, will be the CEO for NEC APAC.

NEC APAC will focus on business expansion and growing the Asian market by harnessing on the cloud and services wave; establishing greater synergy between the NEC subsidiaries in these countries; creating more opportunities for cross-sharing of knowledge and expertise through "competency centers"; and expansion through acquired resources and alliances. NEC APAC is also looking at expanding its suite of solutions, and penetrating into existing and new markets in this Asia Pacific region. The combined entity will result in greater ease of control over operations and facilitate compliance for financial reporting purposes.

"NEC aspires to stay ahead of competition, to grow beyond our boundaries and towards our Group Vision 2017. I believe our customers in this Asia Pacific region will be able to appreciate and benefit from our combined expertise, knowledge and leading technology that we bring across as a One NEC company," said Kiyofumi Kusaka, CEO, NEC APAC.

The NEC Group Vision 2017 reads, “To be a leading global company leveraging the power of innovation to realize an information society friendly to humans and the Earth.”
