Animetrics announced Unisys chose its advanced facial biometric technologies and services to fulfill a US Department of Defense (DOD) Task Order for Synthetic Identification Models. Animetrics, the face recognition provider and the one to utilize 2-D to 3-D face creation technology for face recognition matching of the most difficult face imaging environments, will provide new advancements in 3-D facial processing, which ultimately will provide the DOD with the face identification tools and utilities needed for the national security community.

Animetrics announced Unisys chose its advanced facial biometric technologies and services to fulfill a US Department of Defense (DOD) Task Order for Synthetic Identification Models. "The 3-D technology accurately representing the face biometric using simply any normal photo or video frame of the face is remarkable. It will help our customers particularly in the national security community to more precisely identify persons of interest and increase our situational awareness," said Thomas Giroir, MD for Advanced Programs at Unisys.

"We've been working closely with Unisys for five years under several DOD task order contracts about moving the 2-D, 3-D facial applications to more accurate and practical use potentially for the DOD and DOJ field agent. Now we're very excited to be able to build real solutions that deal with the facial imagery at almost any angle and even take advantage of the mobile phone platforms," said Paul Schuepp, Animetrics President and CEO.
