Epoc Messe Frankfurt , organizers of Intersec trade fair and conference, the premier security and safety exhibition in the region, has reported a huge success for the 12th edition of the trade fair. The 13th edition will take place from Jan. 16 to 18, 2011 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Intersec trade fair and conference has confirmed its position as an international show with more than 11,000 visitors coming from overseas. More than 700 exhibitors participated in this year's trade fair and 19,159 visitors from almost 100 countries attended the show. The top five visitor countries were the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait.
The conference, running alongside the exhibition enjoyed impressive numbers, registering a full house of delegates. Its theme, "Dealing with Disaster: Readiness, Response, Recovery" met with great success with more than twenty international experts speaking on various issues relating to international and regional security.
"We are very happy with the promising results from this year's edition of Intersec. As the leading event for the global trade fair brand Intersec of Messe Frankfurt, we have started the year on a very positive note. In addition to the usual visitors that came from the region and Europe, we witnessed first time visitors from almost 100 countries," said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO, Epoc Messe Frankfurt, organizer of Intersec.
Frank Schmidtke, Area Sales Manager, Draeger Middle East, said: "Intersec is the most important exhibition for Draeger in the area. We consider Intersec the original exhibition for the entire Middle East. We see customers coming not only from UAE, they are coming from all over the area, visitors from Egypt, Iran, Pakistan. Draeger is using the event to show products and their dedication to the area. The expectations are that we meet new customers and generate future business."
Pauwels added that Intersec trade fair and conference 2010 attracted a number of the world's leading companies to showcase their latest products and services and many exhibitors used the exhibition as a platform for new product launches. "The halls throughout the exhibition were full of activity with business deals conducted, new business relationships forged and many new products revealed to the market for the very first time."
MSA, the world's leading manufacturer of high-quality safety products and gas detection system solutions exhibited at the event. Ron Herring, VP, Global Product Leadership, MSA, was confident about the benefits of Intersec, commenting: "This is a show that's very important to us. It is a growing market for the safety business and we have launched some very nice products here. Five gas portable instruments for entry into confined spaces and self contained breathing paratus that we manufacture, some that are actually used by Dubai Civil Defence so it's a very important business area for us."
Sharing a similar view was Mr. Kim Williams, Middle East Regional Manager, APOLLO, who stated: "We are here exhibiting at Intersec again for the 4th consecutive year. We have the opportunity to meet new customers and a lot of our existing distributors from the whole area which includes Middle East, India and Africa and even further afield. APOLLO has been present in the Middle East for 30 years. We have a long standing relationship with several distributors and it's always a pleasure to come to this part of the world to see our long time friends."
As well as the wealth of international exhibitors and visitors to the show, Intersec trade fair and conference also enjoyed a significant regional presence with some regional companies such as NAFFCO, CityTec, Secutronic and SFFECO exhibiting.
NAFFCO was established in 1991, and has grown to become the largest fire fighting equipment manufacturer in the Middle East and one of the top manufacturers worldwide. The company provides "Total" Fire protection solutions and has been awarded the prestigious "Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award of 2005" for excellence and the "Dubai Quality Appreciation Award of 2008".
Khalid Al Khatib, CEO, NAFFCO was also enthusiastic about the show: "NAFFCO is considered one of the top five worldwide in fire protection industry. We are exporting to 78 countries worldwide from Dubai. We have been in Intersec exhibiting since it started 12 years ago. Intersec is a good place for meeting international customers, where we have customers coming from all over the world to meet us. It's becoming bigger and better and it is also becoming more internationally reputable exhibition. From my point of view, one day it will be one of the top in the world."
Additional features at this year's exhibition included industry forums on Fire, Safety and Policing and Commercial Security as well as the UAE International FireFit Championships. The add-on forums proved to be an additional bonus to exhibitors as they provided a platform to reach out to their potential customers from the exhibition floor itself and the UAE International FireFit Championships brought excitement and a competitive edge to the event.
Live displays covering topics such as direct action operations, hostage rescue, rapelling, counter-sniper and fall protection took place at a designated demonstration area. CAMP Spa and Singing Rock put on a fall protection display, the Dubai Police K-9 unit covered drug, bomb sniffing and rescue and Firekraft covered advanced hostage rescue operations and defence combat techniques.
