Smiths Detection Names Head of Military and Emergency Responder Business in Americas

Smiths Detection named Tim Picciotti as VP and GM of the Americas Military and Emergency Responder business units. Previously responsible solely for the company's U.S. military business, Picciotti will now head production and development for military and emergency responder markets in North and South America.

His proven leadership and experience will drive Smiths Detection's brand forward throughout the Americas, reinforcing our commitment to provide the world's best and most innovative detection systems and services.”


Picciotti will continue to oversee the U.S. military market which includes the production and development of a full line of Department of Defense (DoD) products ranging from various chemical agent detection systems and portable chem/bio protection shelters to meteorological measuring systems that improve artillery accuracy.


His additional responsibilities will include the development and production of specialized solutions for armed forces and emergency responders including chemical, biological, radiological and explosives detection devices as well as integrated protection field systems used by the global market.


Picciotti will remain headquartered in the company's Edgewood, Maryland, facility while also being responsible for the business performance of five additional Smiths Detection facilities in the United States.
