Octavian Security, an international firm dedicated to protecting people and organizations, announced the opening of its US headquarters in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, and named Gregg Strangways as President, former Division Manager for MTI Global.

Octavian also established regional offices in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Richmond, Virginia.

Sukhi Ghuman, founder and CEO of the Octavian Group, said, “We are bringing to America the heightened standards and advanced training that has helped us become one of the fastest growing companies in security-conscious Britain."

“Gregg will be adapting our expertise in the areas of manned guarding, event security and risk management to the American marketplace,” he added. “His focus will be the security needs of ports and the firms serving them; utilities, government entities and the construction industry; as well as small to midsized firms that are underserved by existing companies.”

Octavian chose to locate the company's headquarters in suburban Philadelphia because of the metropolitan area's strategic location and the efforts of Greater Philadelphia to quickly and effectively connect Octavian with businesses and security personnel.

Before his role with the Canadian aerospace company MTI Global, Strangways held management positions with Tyco Electronics, Reynolds Metals and Owens Corning.

“I've seen the growing need to integrate security into the fabric of our nation's businesses especially in the aftermath of Sept. 11,” Strangways said. “We not only need well-trained personnel, we need security teams that understand the nature of the threats to the organizations they are guarding, as well as how to integrate their services with those of local, state and federal law enforcement.

“Octavian's expertise in these areas will allow us to offer a caliber of personnel and level of service that exceeds that offered by many of our competitors,” he added.

Strangways, a graduate of the engineering school at Virginia Tech, earned his MBA from the University of Richmond. He will maintain offices in the Philadelphia suburb of Berwyn as well as in Richmond.

Cal Stafford has been name Senior Business Manager and will work out of the Tulsa office.

Headquartered in Nottingham, U.K., Octavian provides high-value security services on three continents. Octavian specializes in manned guarding, event security, remote monitoring, outside broadcast security, risk management, facilities management and recruitment services.
