S2 Security, a manufacturer in integrated IP-based physical security systems, has announced a partnership with SARGENT, an Assa Abloy Group company, will make SARGENT's WiFi-enabled locksets seamlessly interoperate with S2's portfolio of security management software. Users will be able to add remote locksets to new and existing systems.
“We've seen interest in remote lock sets across our base of over 7,500 installed systems,” said John L. Moss, CEO of S2 Security. “I see the integration of SARGENT locksets as a value-added feature for our customers.”
Under the partnership, S2 Security will integrate the SARGENT v.S2 and Passport 1000 P.2 WiFi-enabled locksets with the S2 NetBox and Enterprise security management systems. The Profile Series v.S2 and Passport 1000 P.2 locksets utilize open-standard 802.11 b/g WiFi technology which allows facilities to leverage their existing wireless network or simply build a network with standard off-the-shelf products. Both locksets are available in mortise lock, cylindrical lock and exit device configurations. The v.S2 is operated with a Prox reader and optional keypad, while the Passport P.2 is with magstripe cards. Both locks provide centrally managed control without many of the costs, labor and infrastructure upgrades associated with a traditional hardwired system.
S2 Security offers the industry standard IP-based S2 NetBox software for a range of platforms from small, embedded solid state systems to scaled disk-based servers.Whereas previous generation systems require PCs servers with complex operating systems and moving hard disks, S2 NetBox systems embed the Linux operating system and operate on solid state hardware. There are no moving parts in an S2 NetBox system - it will run unattended for years, making it perfect for all facilities where IT staff is unavailable or overburdened. S2 Enterprise offers the S2 NetBox software suite to applications that require capacity and throughput to manage campus or global installations.
