OB Telecom Electronic Technology, established in 2000, is a leading fiber optic transceiver player in China. OB Telecom is based on prestigious experts in digital video communication field. With strong R&D capability, OB Telecom is ready to show the world its advanced technology and reliable product.

OB Telecom Electronic Technology, which was founded in the Optical Fiber Communication Technology Research Laboratory in Zhejiang in 2000, gathered a group of prestigious experts in digital video communication to develop and produce digital video products. Its efforts pioneered digital video optical fiber transmission technology in China. Its technologies and products have become the model for the domestic video optical transceiver industry. Digital  uncompressed optical transceiver, video and Ethernet synthesis transmission technology have now become mainstream.

OB Telecom has posted several milestones. It introduced digital encoded video fiber optic transceivers in 2000, which provided comprehensive transmission products, combining video, Ethernet and telephone signals in 2001. These advances enhanced integrated transmission of fiber optic transceivers. One year later, OB Telecom successfully provided Aiphonea Japanese intercom supplier  with signal transmitters over fiber or IP networks, which solved multi aiphone signal transmission problems over long distances.

In 2004, it introduced digital encoded cascade video transmission systems for highway surveillance systems nationwide. In 2005, OB Telecom came out VAR (Video Any Route) digital video integrated multi-service optical transmission and switching systems, which provide better arbitrary transmission, switching and routing. In 2006, it launched its patented Aiphone transmission system over IP and, in 2007, VAE digital video collection transmission. The VAE is designed to improve video quality for public surveillance and save transmission bandwidth.

From the first digital uncompressed video optical transceiver in 2000 to the latest VAE system, OB Telecom's many advanced optical transceivers have seen wide use in applications, such as broadcasting and television, freeways, intelligent traffic surveillance, water and power plants, petroleum, military, police and industry.

Over the past eight years, OB Telecom has proved it R&D capability, showcasing innovation year after year. "OB Telecom was founded with less than US$7,500 and a few engineers," said Tony Shi, General Manager at OB Telecom Technology. "Initially, our R&D efforts had very limited financial support."

OB Telecom, he continued, was not a market-driven company. "We did not launch our first product until the technology and quality were ready." OB Telecom, he said, was the first Chinese manufacturer to provide uncompressed digital transceivers and offer the first product combining all functionalities, such as video transmission and telephone signals. To date, OB Telecom has approximately 100 R&D personnel, whose efforts have made OB Telecom a pioneer in digital video transmission.

OB9252DT/OB9252DR transmits eight channels of high-quality composite video, one to six lines of duplex audio, one to four lines of duplex data, and one to four lines of contact closure signal or in any combination over one fiber. Moreover, it has been designed to provide choice of one to four 10M/100M Ethernet, one to four E1, one to eight telephone lines, and one to eight inputs of Aiphone intercommunication signals.

The OB9231DT/OB9231DR has the same functionalities as the OB9252 series, but with four channels. A&S product personnel tested the OB9231 series thoroughly. The aluminum housing effectively dissipates heat to prolong product life. "At several international trade shows, buyers have told me that they were impressed by our stylish designs and housings," said Shi.

OB Telecom products feature anti-static in every video input and digital transmission port so products withstand harsh environments. The anti-static design has enabled not only outdoor applications, but also stabilized quality. A&S testing personnel have also focused attention on how its products work in various temperatures. "We put OB Telecom's devices into a temperature testing case," said A&S testing personnel. "When the temperature reached 74 degrees Celsius, the testing report showed that OB Telecom's fiber optic transceivers remained stable." Meanwhile, A&S also tested its fiber optic transceivers in minus 30-degree conditions and normal environments. Image clarity and color restoration remained true.

According to Shi, the OB9231 series represents one of the most advanced uncompressed fiber optic transceivers in China. "Overall performance has reached global standards. We also used 10-bit PCM encoding/decoding technology and 15.36-MHz frequency to ensure image capture quality. Meanwhile, we have attained RS250C long-distance transmission requirements," he added.

OB Telecom now has a more than 30-percent share of the fiber optic transceiver market in China. "Our close relationships with academic institutions is how we differentiate ourselves from other manufacturers," said Shi. "We have been cooperating with the only fiber optic communication technology laboratory in the industry for years. We also have the most advanced manu facturing facilities and equipment, including SMT machines, communication signal analyzers, Agilent optical time domain reflection meters, Anritsu spectral analyzers and Agilent logic analyzers as well as comprehensive and rigorous management systems." The company uses only top-quality materials to meet UL and FCC requirements.

The Olympic Games in Beijing are using OB Telecom fiber optic products. This is true at the new national stadium  the Nest  as well as swimming facility  the Water Cube.

OB Telecom has been leading the industry on open protocols and platforms. "We need to form standards to facilitate industry development," said Shi. OB Telecom is also looking to advance integration. "In the security industry," he said, "there are many different brands. Big projects require one comprehensive system to integrate all the different equipment. We are working on a pure IP solution to replace all analog devices and fiberoptic converters for better management and transmission fluency."
