Summer works deliver new access control at The Cranbourne Primary School

Amthal has completed the design, installation and commissioning of a new smart access control system at The Cranbourne Primary School, for the benefit of staff, pupils and visitors.

The project included a 10-door access control solution, alongside Paxton NET2 video entry intercoms for the vehicle and pedestrian gates. An ongoing preventative service and support agreement is also in place to provide continued maintenance of the system.

With the initial survey completed shortly before the summer holidays, the project was delivered during the break, allowing the work to be completed within a short timeframe and with minimal disruption to the school learning environment.

Says Tom Sampford, Site Manager at The Cranbourne Primary School: “The main priority for us was making sure the work could be carried out efficiently without creating unnecessary disruption around the school. The timing of the installation made a real difference, and the process was straightforward from our side.

“Having the system updated across the school and the entrance points gives us a more consistent way of managing access, while the ongoing support also means we have someone to turn to if anything needs attention.”

Amthal’s Project Management team attended pre-installation meetings on site with the school to confirm power and network locations and ensure the installation requirements were established before work began.

The completed installation provides the school with a single access control system covering internal doors as well as the main vehicle and pedestrian entrance points. The use of video intercoms at the gates also provides an additional means of identifying visitors before access is granted.

David Williamson, Amthal Business Development Manager added: “This was a great example of why the preparation stage is so important, particularly when working within a school where there is a very limited window to complete the installation.

“By getting the project team involved early, we could go into the summer break with a clear specification and plan. The result is a system bringing the school’s internal and external access points together, with ongoing support in place to help keep it operating effectively over the longer term.”
