Secutech opened today with a strong lineup of international and Taiwanese security companies at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Taipei, featuring representatives of leading trade associations, Taiwan government representatives and delegations from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines and Myanmar.

Hanwha

Among the top international brands is Hanwha Vision, which showcased products powered by its Wisenet SoCs. Featuring a dual NPU, Wisenet is optimized for distributed AI workloads such as AI-enhanced ISP on the one hand, and agentic AI on the other.

As one of the few security camera brands that offer chips developed in-house, the Korean company nonetheless has a strong focus on the relatively small but mature Taiwanese market.

As local brands offer competitive prices, Hanwha’s focus is on comprehensive solutions including video security, access control, alarms systems and wider Iot integration through a network of trusted integrators, said Jack Miao, Marketing Supervisor at Unitech Computer, a Hanwha integration partner based in Taipei.

“Aside from the technology, our value proposition is five years guarantee on all Hanwha solutions, something other brands don’t have,” Miao said in an interview at the Hanwha booth.

Network Optix

Network Optix, a US software company, has its APAC headquarters in Taiwan, benefiting from close ties from local manufacturers and technology stack partners. At Secutech, where it’s having a strong presence, Network Optix showcased AI Manager, its solutions for distributing and managing AI workloads and agents, optimized for edge devices, on-prem hardware such as DVRs and the cloud.

To ensure hardware compatibility across device classes, Network Optix solutions are designed to be as lightweight as possible, a company representative said at the Network Optix booth. Another focus is on compatibility with a large number of hardware manufacturers.

“This is especially beneficial for operators of large infrastructures features many different device classes, such as smart city operators who want to optimize the flow of traffic and the optimal integration of public transportation options,” she said.

Among the Taiwanese companies making a big impact at Secutech are AVTECH and Merit LILIN, who showcased video-security centric solutions tailored to the specific needs of different verticals.

AVTECH

For AVTECH, those are, for example, banks and other verticals with especially high security and compliance standards. As a technology that AVTECH hopes make them stand out in the market, it showcased NVRs with user-group classification and FIDO2-based access. This means users log in with a password and their fingerprint through a small reader that they attach via USB. Depending on user group, they have access to all camera streams, or just select ones.

“This is also very useful for entertainment venues that, for example, have VIP rooms,” said Alejandro Portillo, Product Division Sales Manager at AVTECH. “Operators often want to ensure only the most trusted security staff have access to live streams.”

AI also loomed large at Taiwanese companies at Secutech, with a decisive focus on giving operators tangible benefit.

LILIN

LILIN tailors all AI features to the specific needs of users, including for smaller projects that have complex specifications and are thus not in the focus of volume manufacturers.

“This continues to ensure our success across 10 markets where we have offices, including important growth markets such as the US and India, where compliance, for example with NDAA, plays a large role,” said David Wang, Operation Manager, International Sales Department, Merit LILIN.

ONVIF

ONFIV, the international forum for standardization and interoperability, acts as Knowledge Partner of Secutech this year, represented by its Ambassador, Roberto Licari, who said the organization is focusing on three areas:
  • Internationalization with focus on regions and markets where it is less strongly represented
  • Building stronger ties to integrators, as most ONVIF members are manufacturers
  • Following tech and market trends more closely

Another challenge is posed by the increasing integration of IT and security infrastructures and its uneven implementation.

“Many organizations remain divided into siloed departments while the technology they’re working with is integrated,” Licari said.
