The deployment resulted in zero unauthorized entries within the first three months of operation, demonstrating how advanced biometrics can significantly enhance back-of-house security without requiring hardware upgrades, lengthy integrations, or changes to daily workflows.
St. Regis Mumbai is one of India’s tallest luxury hotels and part of Marriott International’s premium portfolio. The hotel faced persistent challenges in controlling staff-only access points. Individuals on internal stop lists, including former employees were repeatedly attempting to enter through service corridors commonly used for deliveries and employee movement. These back-of-house zones require strict oversight, yet manual CCTV monitoring could not provide the real-time detection and fast response needed to mitigate safety and reputational risks.
To resolve this, RecFaces deployed its Id-Guard software for video surveillance and investigative analytics as a stand-alone facial recognition solution integrated directly with the hotel’s existing CCTV infrastructure. The system was connected to three pre-installed cameras positioned at key staff-access locations and configured in line with St. Regis Mumbai’s internal security and data-governance requirements. During implementation, RecFaces’ development team adapted Id-Guard to the hotel’s IT architecture and created a custom patch to ensure seamless performance without altering existing systems. The full deployment, from pilot to operational readiness, was completed in just one week.
“Once live, Id-Guard continuously monitored video streams, compared faces to the hotel’s stop lists, and automatically sent instant alerts to the security team whenever an unauthorized person attempted entry. This enabled immediate intervention and eliminated the need for time-consuming manual video review. System health checks, audit logs, and clearly defined SLAs ensured smooth and uninterrupted operation throughout the project”, said Oleg Kurochkin, Business Development Director for APAC at RecFaces.
Within three months, St. Regis Mumbai recorded zero unauthorized entries in the monitored areas. Detection-to-alert time remained consistently under one second, and manual video monitoring for those access points was eliminated entirely. The solution strengthened access control, increased security team efficiency, and reduced operational costs by removing the need for additional manpower or infrastructure. Its scalable architecture also positions the customer to extend Id-Guard to additional entrances or other properties within the hospitality group.
