How Hikvision solutions facilitate remote learning at Kettering College

How Hikvision solutions facilitate remote learning at Kettering College
Kettering College partnered with Custom Connections Audio Video to enhance its nursing education program through Hikvision's advanced technology.
Kettering College, a private healthcare institution in Ohio, partnered with Custom Connections Audio Video to enhance its nursing education program through Hikvision's advanced technology by sharing lab-based learning and medical simulations with students in classrooms and remotely.

Kettering’s nursing labs feature individual bays with beds, where professors would use a mechanical mannequin to simulate various patient conditions, such as low blood pressure. These were captured using seven Hikvision 4 MP AcuSense Fixed Mini Dome Network Cameras and embedded plug-and-play NVR systems transmitted to a central control room.

Custom Connections used HDMI splitters to send live views to 4K monitors, enabling live video and audio to be shared with a virtual classroom and remote students. Professors could also control the NVR using a wireless mouse for flexibility in the operation. For the Accelerated Nursing Program, a two-way communication system was implemented to split the audio to all seven cameras so remote students could watch and hear the simulations in real time.

Mark Crumbacher, the owner of Custom Connections said, “Our decades of experience with audio/video, paired with the quality of Hikvision’s cameras and NVRs, helped Kettering College’s Accelerated Nursing Department deliver high-quality remote learning during the pandemic and beyond. In addition, it gave staff and students the flexibility to learn in multiple environments."  Additionally, the use of the YuJa video capture tool enhanced student feedback and assessment, providing a valuable resource for students to review and improve their performance.
