The BFA (Boao Forum for Asia) Annual Conference 2023 was held in Hainan from March 28 to 31. With the theme of “An Uncertain World: Solidarity and Cooperation for Development amid Challenges,” it will continue to focus on the issues of development in Asia and the world and reach a consensus of countries to jointly promote the recovery of the world economy after the pandemic. The aim is to address common challenges and advance common development.
It is reported that infrared technology is first applied in the maritime surveillance of this forum. Let's take a look at how InfiRay, as a new force in the security sector, could build a strong “fender wall” of maritime surveillance.
The main venue of the BFA is located on Dongyu Island, Boao, which is surrounded by the sea. In such a vast sea area, its security depends on only two devices, the InfiRay infrared panoramic camera XSENTRY and the mini infrared panoramic camera XSENTRY-mini, which greatly reduces labor costs and the deployment workload.
Taking a panoramic view and controlling the whole situation
Different from ordinary security cameras with limited viewing angles, InfiRay infrared panoramic camera can monitor the venue surroundings in a 360° panoramic manner in real time. The XSENTRY infrared panoramic camera installed on the top floor of the main venue can detect ships as far as 8 km away. In this way, unlicensed ships and UAVs are strictly prevented from entering the security area. The XSENTRY-mini infrared panoramic camera on the telecommunication towers around the main venue is responsible for monitoring all targets close to the main venue and observing ships in the northwest sea area and people and vehicles within 1 km in real time. The combination of them is omni-dimensional, with no blind area in all directions, and continuously ensures the safety of the land and sea around the venue day and night.
Day and night, full vigilance
It is known that the infrared panoramic camera uses a InfiRay developed 12μm uncooled infrared detector. Infrared thermal imaging technology can passively receive radiation. When it is dark in the sea at night, we can still clearly observe the real-time situation of the surrounding area of the venue with the help of the panoramic camera, easily realizing 24h protection.
In addition to panoramic imaging, the infrared panoramic camera supports real-time detection of targets entering the warning zone. The number of detected targets is up to 128, and their movement routes are displayed in real time and an alarm prompt will be sent. Under the surveillance of such a powerful infrared panoramic camera, no ship can escape from its “eyes”.
Intelligent identification to reduce misreports
The seaside is stormy, and the infrared panoramic camera also takes this into consideration, applying a customized intelligent AI algorithm, which can effectively eliminate misreports caused by waves. For non-key areas and legal areas within the monitoring range, multiple shielding areas can be set. The system would not send alarms for target ships and UAVs entering the shielding areas, improving the accuracy of the alarm.
Mobile Sentinel for temporary deployment
The installation environment on the northwest side of the main venue is limited. The mini infrared panoramic camera is small in size and weighs only about 2.1 kg, equipped with a suitcase, which is lightweight and portable. It is also optionally equipped with a battery module, which supports 8 hours of wireless work, meeting all temporary control and mobile patrol needs.
In recent years, more and more infrared thermal imaging technologies that can directly show the temperature have been applied in the security protection of large-scale events and conferences. The rapid development of intelligent infrared thermal imaging and temperature measurement products will rapidly advance security into a new era. Through the combination of 5G, IoT, AI, big data, and other technologies, it is sure that infrared thermal imaging will be applied more commonly and diversely in the future. We also expect InfiRay to bring us more surprises in the future.
