Singapore completed its first safe city test bed in 2014 with great success. As the Singapore government views the project as an important growth area that is essential for making Singapore one of the safest and most efficient cities in the world, Milestone shares their opinion on the safe city program in Singapore.

“Safe city consists of faculties who have expertise in administration, surveillance, transport, healthcare, etc. The integration of these services to be offered to citizens require a high level of infrastructure being defined, and one of the components within the scope will be surveillance,” said Sunny Kong, Director of Sales for Asia at Milestone Systems. Surveillance is an essential component as it provides images to different agencies where they can synchronize their efforts in providing their services. A typical example could be an ambulance called to site, video images provided to the driver would ensure that he does not travel on the road that has traffic congestion, ensuring he can arrive at the destination smoothly to be able to attend to the injured, Kong explained.

According to Kong, safe city will be the highly sort after sector in the next five years, and looking at the trades and industries that involves in generating the growth in the country, it is too much at stake if this is not look into by the agencies.
