Swiss-Belhotel International has added another property to its portfolio after signing a memorandum of understanding to manage Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan, Malaysia.
The 334-room property will be part of a mixed waterfront development that will include retail shopping, a commercial district and a business park.
Swiss-Belhotel International president and chairman Gavin Faull said: “We are delighted to be expanding our presence in Malaysia and we will look forward to replicating our international brand standards there, bringing efficient service and a high level of professionalism to the market.”
The Hong Kong based company is expanding in Asia-Pacific and Middle East, while eyeing other parts of the world.
Indonesia is the country where Swiss-Belhotel International has the biggest presence. It operates 39 hotels there, with 15 more coming in 2014 including a five-star hotel – Ciputra World Surabaya. The company's Indonesian portfolio will contain 97 hotels and resorts within 2 years, where Swiss-Belhotel International has been voted Indonesia's Leading Global Hotel Chain at the Indonesian Travel and Tourism Awards the past 4 years.
Swiss-Belhotel International will grow throughout Asia next year. In China, it will add to its existing 3 hotels with 3 more in 2015 while in Vietnam it will open 2 properties to go with its popular Swiss-Belhotel Lao Cai. Moreover, it will open 2 hotels in the Philippines by 2015 and 2016.
