American company Famous Brands International has signed a master franchise agreement to bring the iconic American dessert brand TCBY Yogurt to Asian countries.
Besides yogurts, TCBY also offers smoothies, specialty items like frappes, sundaes, chillers, and cakes and pies.
Under the agreement, 28 locations will be developed in Southeast Asian countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam over the next 10 years.
Famous Brands has partnered with Malaysian-based Dewina Holdings Group, which owns and operates franchises including Café Barbera, Burger King, Quiznos and Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits to operate the brand in those countries, the first of which is slated to open this summer in Kuala Lumpur. Three other TCBY stores will open by the end of 2014.
Famous Brands International also owns Mrs. Fields Cookies which recently opened three new stores in Thailand.
“International demand for TCBY and Mrs. Fields Cookies remains strong and we're eager to partner with qualified partners to grow our presence internationally,” said Famous Brands COO David Bloom.
Together, TCBY and Mrs. Fields have more than 900 locations in 33 countries including India and Japan.
