Fujitsu’s palm scanners may soon find a home inside smartphones and tablets. “We have been reducing the size of our palm vein authentication units since their initial development,” a Fujitsu spokeman said in a ComputerWorld report. “In the future, we hope to eventually have these units embedded into smartphones.”

“We have been reducing the size of our palm vein authentication units since their initial development,” a Fujitsu spokeman said in a ComputerWorld report. “In the future, we hope to eventually have these units embedded into smartphones.”

Fujitsu's palm scanners have found many applications, including as stand-alone units for POS systems, as well as in laptops. Smartphones and tablets would be new space for the company.

According to the ComputerWorld report, the company is currently working on tablets with embedded palm scanners for Fukoka Financial Group. The tablets have a 12.5-inch screen, an Intel Core i5 processor and they run Windows.
