The Sungai Buloh-Kajang Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project is nearly 40% complete to date, said MRT Corp Sdn Bhd Strategic Communications and Public Relations director Amir Mahmood Razak.
The project is estimated to cost no more than $7 billion.
The 100-meter special span is in Package V7, under work package contractor MTD Construction, part of a total of 21 special spans to be built for the entire Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT line.
"To make way for the construction, the Cheras-Kajang Highway will be temporarily closed in stages from March 3 for six months.
"The plan will involve temporary closure of traffic lanes on the eight-lane highway in four stages," he said.
Amir said precautionary steps would be taken to minimize traffic impact, including advanced public notification, sufficient traffic signage, proper lane tapering and having the MRT Ronda on 24-hour standby.
