OKI announced the delivery and start of use of an ATM incorporating finger vein authentication technology at the Bank of Lanzhou in China. This marks OKI's 1st delivery of an ATM incorporating finger vein biometric authentication technology to a Chinese bank. OKI aims for expanded sales of ATMs incorporating finger vein authentication, a feature that makes forgery and identity fraud significantly more difficult. This function is especially important in the Chinese ATM market, where demand is growing for transaction safety and security.
Based on OKI's ATM-Recycler G7, cash-recycling ATM, the ATM incorporating finger vein authentication functionality delivered to the Bank of Lanzhou incorporates the finger vein authentication module co-developed by mofiria Corporation and OKI. OKI adopted this module since using vein patterns for authentification makes forgery and identity-thief more difficult than that of surface of a finger, and is designed to minimize the calculations required for authentication so faster and more secure authentication can be realized.
Bank of Lanzhou made positive assessments of OKI's strong track record with ATMs in China and of the advantages provided by mofiria finger vein authentication. The finger vein authentication featured in these units will enhance transaction safety, allowing the bank to provide various advanced and convenient services, including cash withdrawals without cash cards.
Moving forward, OKI will continue to provide ATMs offering enhanced safety and convenience features in China and other overseas markets.
