THE BASES Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) expects to bid out the remaining service area along Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) this month.

“We expect to come out with the terms of reference for the Macangcung service area in the second week of January the soonest. Interested parties can then buy bid documents,” said Nena D. Radoc, head of BCDA Asset Disposition.

BCDA is the state agency entrusted with the management and sale of former military lands.

The Macangcung service area -- a 2-hectare lot in Barangay Santiago, Concepcion, Tarlac -- was previously offered for sale together with the Concepcion service area but failed to attract buyers. The minimum lease amount was P2.24 million ($49 thousand) for each area.

The Concepcion service area, meanwhile, was awarded to lone bidder Seaoil Philippines, Inc., which, according to Ms. Radoc, had made a higher bid than the minimum.

The 2 service areas -- to be used mainly for gasoline stations, restrooms, emergency services, convenience stores and restaurants -- are for long-term, 25-year lease, renewable for another 25 years.
