Neural Services Sdn Bhd, an integrated security solutions provider endeavors to win jobs amid stiff competition in Malaysian security market, which is mainly dominated by foreign players.

Neural Services runs 2 core business segments: biometric security solutions offering fingerprint-based security system via its flagship e-Jari products, and total security solutions (TSS), an integrated security system for households and other premises.

The company had to cease its overseas operations, including in Indonesia, Botswana and the United Kingdom, due to high competition.

"Our (product) quality is strong but in terms of pricing, we can't compete. We can't afford to bulk manufacture as the turnover will be slow for us," said Mushidy Ibrahim, GM, adding that e-Jari holds some 10% of the local market share.

As for its TSS segment, Neural Services is working with three original equipment manufacturers from the UK and South Korea to assemble and distribute integrated security products in the Malaysian market.

Its client base ranges from the government and government-linked companies to the private sector and individuals.

On current jobs, Neural Services is working with MRT Corp Bhd to provide a facial recognition security system for the latter's centralized foreign labor quarters for the Klang Valley My Rapid Transit Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line. The RM2 million(US$607 thousand) contract awarded in 2012 is now 70% completed.

He said the company is now focusing on strengthening its foothold in the domestic market before it can once again expand its business overseas.
