Sony Electronics continues its commitment to advance the security industry with the launch of 4 new Rapid Dome IP Full HD/ HD security cameras that feature 30x optical zoom and the industry's, fastest pan speed, highest frame rate, and widest dynamic range.

A wide dynamic range is critical to producing true-to-life picture quality and color in strong backlight conditions, and the W series is able perform on this point by being the world's first Full HD security camera to feature 130dB of wide dynamic range. This gives operators the confidence to accurately describe and assess a security incident, which is vital in any post incident review or investigation.

The cameras are also equipped to perform in severe conditions with the latest IPELA ENGINE™ PRO technology, which is an advanced step up from the award winning IPELA ENGINE™. As part of this new technology, the W series feature set includes:

Gyroscopic image stabilization to reduce the effect of vibrations during strong winds or when installed near roads
Image defogging to increase image visibility under poor weather conditions,
Focal plane distortion correction to correct image distortion caused by panning.
Continuous 360 degree pan movement at the industry-leading speed of 700 degrees per second

Designed for wide area surveillance areas such as airports, stadiums, casinos and border control, the W series allows operators to quickly pan to areas of interest in a single quick motion, and identify the situation.

No security team would want to be in a “Blink and its Gone” situation, and the W series prevents this by shooting at twice the number of frames as conventional IP cameras. The 60fps gives the operator more details to analyse when stepping frame by frame through the video, making a difference in identifying a person or an object in question.

The SNC-WR630 and SNC-WR600 are rated for indoor use with full HD and HD resolution respectively, while the SNC-WR632 and SNC-WR602 unitized models are IP66 rated for outdoor use with full HD and HD resolution respectively. The cameras will be available in the Asia Pacific region from January 2014 onwards.
